The lesson dragged on for what seemed like forever. And it still wasn't over! There was only 20 minutes left to go, but that would feel like another hour. James sighed and rolled his eyes from boredom. West had basically been left to do the experiments himself, even if James was stood right beside him. However James suddenly jumped out his skin as a loud bell rang loudly.

"FIRE!" One of the classmates screamed before everyone ran out the exit doors. It took a few seconds form the boys to realise what was happening. Everyone was screaming and shoving, trying to get out the fire exit. The teacher stood behind her desk, grabbing her handbag (apparently the rule of leaving all belongings behind didn't apply to her) and shouting at everyone to calm down and remember the safety rules. Yep, they totally had been thrown out the window.

The school had practised fire drills basically every year. The rules were simple and every year most students had been able to follow them. The students were supposed to silently walk out the exit door and onto the tennis courts, where there would be checks throughout the school and a register be taken. Not now it was a real fire though! Everyone was all freaking out, some about how they had left their very expensive bags inside, some about missing their bus and having to walk home. After a few minutes the fire brigade had arrived and everyone was safely out the building. They seemed to take ages, and the teachers finally gave up and let the students find their friends and sit in the concrete floor. After all, they had been stood around for a while.

"Bro that was crazy!" Exclaimed West. Hunter nodded in agreement.

"I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a bruise from where I got shoved into a desk" Eldon mumbled whilst examining his hip.

"Probably" mumbled James as he looked around the courts. He had been awfully quiet, or so his friends had thought. It was odd for him. Probably because of how he had abandoned his own plan of setting the lab on fire, yet it still happened. Even if it wasn't his own plan, or maybe nobody's plan, it still happened. He thought it was strange how it happened on the same day that he had planned to set it on fire. The four boys just sat in silence, taking in the utter shock of what just happened. It was unbelievable.

After a lot of waiting around everyone was dismissed, and everyone walked out of school. It was finishing time anyway by now so it was fine, and after the fire had been put out some students were able to get their belongings from other rooms around the school. However James and Eldon didn't really care about their bags and books so decided to walk home.

They walked back in silence. James was still shocked that the lab was set on fire in the first place, and after his thoughts the previous night he was slightly dazed. It was fate that the science lab was set on fire the day he was planning on doing it. But he was thankful that he hadn't, since the girl had been seen talking with the police and possibly having to pay the damage fees. Even if it was just a stupid accident.

Suddenly Eldon stopped walking and looked at James.

"Bro, what's this going to mean for the school?"

James was a bit confused at first, then he kinda caught on. In all fairness it seemed to only be the science block that got damaged, so they aren't going to have to leave school or anything. However they still didn't know the full damage, or how the school laws worked.

What if the laws said they could not go back to the school forever?
