"Cycle," Silence.

"Cycle!" Silence.

"Cycle wake up!"

"WHOA! What?" I look around in the dark and my eyes catch a silhouette. I stare and shake my head. Who is that? I rub my eyes and look again. Vita? VITA!!

"Is this really you Vita?"

Vita places her hand on my arm. She kneels beside me. "Yes dear. It is me."

"You aren't allowed to travel to Earth Vita."

"I know."

"So how is it possible that you are here?"

"I saw the Air you were sending to Savoir. I hope you don't mind but I took that as a queue. You need to talk to someone and I was bored. But don't worry Savoir will get the Air you sent."

"That still doesn't explain how you are on Earth."

"Its simple. I'm not here. Your dreaming. I'm in your dreams."

"Your in my subconscious Vita. I don't know how I feel about you being in here."

"Oh shush kiddo, I have no business with your thoughts. Its with you!"

"Whats on your mind Vita?"

"I spoke with your mother. I went to her this time. I spoke to her about you coming back. I told her my plans for you. I told her you'd be in charge of the Isle."

"What did my mother say?"

"She didn't believe in my judgement. She doesn't believe in you. She said you aren't very responsible. You are in charge of Earth and you somehow managed to screw up the lives of the people on this tiny planet."

I winced. My mother said something so cruel?

"So I thought it over. I see where she was going with it all. It made sense. Your mother didn't choose to hand you Earth and it certainly wasn't her responsibility to look over it. It was your responsibility. But lets be honest. You were destined to be an Advocate as well! How were you to learn all you know now about the Isle in preparation to become an Advocate if you were only spending your time on earth?

                        So yes, You are, what? maybe 200 human years ahead in your studies? That's huge. So what I guess what i'm trying to say is that, I walked out of your mom's home not wanting you to leave Earth. Kill the next 200 years watching over Earth and fixing all the things that are all wrong, ya know? I shouldn't be so selfish and want you up on the Isle when your already done with your Advocate studies.  Who knows? Maybe you'll be a better Advocate with all the knowledge you'll accumulate on here."

"You want me to stay here?"

"Yes honey. You need to make up all of these years."

"I understand."

"I'll always watch for you dear."

" I know."

"Dont you ever doubt how I feel for you Cycle of Life. You are destined for so much. It won't be easy. But with time you will have it all."

"I know. I would never doubt the words you say. Which is why I have a question."

"Yes?"

"Its about Amerie."

Vita's voice became rigid. "What about him?"

"I saw him today. He didn't know who I was. So I asked him how long has it been since he has been on the Isle. He said he doesn't remember. Vita don't you think its time that Faerie went back home?"

"No."

"Vita-"

"Don't Vita me, Cycle. Your mother and I are just getting on speaking terms now. Your mother meant a lot to me. He knew what he was getting into."

"You of all Faeries are suppose to be the most forgiving."

"Are you judging my character Cycle?"

"Yes."

"Are you really in the position to judge?"

"No, but you seem to think you are."

"You should stay out of what you don't understand."

"The only thing that YOU know that I dont understand is love. Are you still in love with him?"

Vita had looked up. I could see her throat moving. "Yes."

"Then forgive him and tell him you do. You can be with him."

"Yes. Its that easy to you for you to say. But I have reduced the situation to the fact that he doesn't deserve me."

"He doesn't deserve you?"

"I know my worth, He is beyond beneath me."

"Okay. Thats pride. Your pride won't let you be happy."

"Maybe so. But he had his chance he can't have me anymore."

"He made you happy, did he not?"

"The time he was with me, yes."

"You love him-"

"He doesn't love me. I am not going to force him to be with me. But he can't be with anyone else on the Isle either."

"Your being selfish."

"Maybe so but I can't face him."

"You know I'll have to report this to the Advocates. Your affecting his case with emotional involvement."

A smile came to Vita's face. "I know kiddo. It's fine. I'll deal with it when it comes. It won't go through. If your mom won't come to the proceedings, your wasting your time."

"So its a matter of convincing my mom?"

"Yes. Which you can't do. Your mother is the mother of holding grudges."

"She forgave you, did she not?"

Vitas animated face went serious. "She won't. She knows how I feel about him."

"Does she? You both are only now getting on speaking terms. I doubt you have spoken to her about something so irrelevant."

"You aren't on speaking terms with your mother either Cycle. So I guess our chances are 50/50."

"Best of luck."

"Same to you." Vita said as she wrapped me in her arms, hugging me. "I miss you kiddo."

"And I miss you Vita." I let go of her and put my hands on either side of her face. "And I want you to be happy. I want you to be loved. You deserve to be." For the first time in my life. Vita broke down in front of me. I hugged her to my chest as she cried. She had let go abruptly. 

"Thank you Cycle. But I can't be loved. My job won't let me. Its something you'll come to learn as well. Men fear women in power. You may think that me giving you this job is a blessing. But its curse. Your too nice and they run over you. If your too harsh, they fear you. You never win. But I know your stronger then me. You'll handle the situation alot better then I have. But I have to go. Take care of yourself Cycle of life. I love you deary!" She blew me a kiss and then she was gone.

I awoke with a start. I looked around. It's still dark. Which made me curious as to how long I've been asleep. I get up and walk toward Savoir's Mansion. My heart felt heavy. It felt heavy for Vita. She had a chance to find out what love was and love got away. 

I saw a whole other side of Vita today. I never knew she regretted being given the Isle.
