If you have read the two chapters of Fighting For before (because you're lovely) you would know that the two characters introduced are Roman Pari, the incredibly handsome and powerful Original vampire, and Aleksander No-Last-Name, the adorable young vampire.

I have changed Aleksander's name to Vin to avoid confusion between the Beta, Aleks, and the vampire. And also Aleksander is now happily mated to Roman (time period of Fighting For was quite some time before The Alphas).

Oh and they also have one adopted son. He's a shapeshifter and he's three.

Cheers x

Chapter Twenty One

Roman's POV

I was awake, watching my mate and child get cuddly in the soft duvet and many pillows, watching them with nothing but fierce love. I would die to protect them- seriously.

Vincent Pari-Bienschumi, my husband of nearly seven years after being housemates unintentionally. Our journey as a couple had just started. Seven human years was a short time for vampires.

We adopted our son three years ago. His name is Rhein Pari-Bienschumi and he's a shapeshifter. We don't exactly know what his spirit's animal was at the moment since he's... well, three and a half years old.

His shapeshifting ability will be stronger as he grows older and his spirit form would be unlocked maybe when he has reached his teen years.

I was happy.

I would probably have a long relationship, unlike my others where I was mated to a human and they died too soon.

It pained me to think of my past mates but either way I've moved on. And in a much better place now.

Right here with my son and husband.

I was smiling fondly down at their sleeping forms when a loud ringing of the phone downstairs snapped me out of my thoughts.

Rhein shot up, wide awake and clutching at his head. Poor baby, the noise must have been too sharp for his sensitive ears.

I should get the phone replaced, I mentally noted as I nudged Vin awake before flashing down to the living room to stop that god awful noise.

"Roman Pari speaking, who is this and what do you want," I snapped at the person on the line.

"Hey, your friendly neighboring werewolf pack here, Silver Range. Uh, just a heads up that we're currently under attack and two of our wolves are headed your way. Sorry if you know, we interrupted anything or whatever," I scowled, processing everything.

"Wait. You're bringing the fight to me and my family?"

I had a pretty good relationship with the Silver Range pack, besides the fact that we lived miles away from each other, we were considered neighbors and usually I would be more than welcoming to them if they needed any sort of assistance.

But I drew the line when it affected my family.

Just no. Don't go there.

I listened intently over the line and heard slight squabbling.

"Hello? Alpha Ronaldo here. Sorry for the rudeness and informality just now... a child was on the phone. And to answer your question, the attacker is not just any random rogue pack. It's the Grand Werewolf Council after one of our... members... Anyway, just be expecting two wolves, both Alphas and you know the Council, they won't cross over to your territory, just in case they spark some anger with your Council."

That was true. If the Dog Council of Whatever were to cross over into my territory with the intentions to harm, they were threading on very risky ground.

Given my high rank of an Original vampire, I had connections to the Council of Vampires. In fact, I was one of their members and still remained in contact with them to this very day.

"Thank you for notifying us. We'll take in your members. Goodbye."

We said our awkward farewells and I hung up.

I hate wolves.

"Rome who was that?" I turned to see my beautiful mate with a sleepy Rhein in his arms.

"It was the Silver Range Pack. Prepare the guest rooms, we're expecting visitors."

Dalton's POV

We've been running for maybe an hour now and we were still within the boundaries of Silver Range.

I didn't know their land was so big.

"Dalton, I'm tired can we stop?" Kyler whined from behind me as we paced slower.

I turned to face my mate whose giant golden body was heaving for oxygen. We do have a limit, guys.

"Come on, just a little bit further and soon we'll be out of your land and then we can start looking for the Roman dude."

I padded over to his side and nudged him gently with my snout as he leaned against my huge dark body for support.

Kyler whined, sounding like a little pup not getting a none and I licked at his face desperately.

"I promise- just a little bit more!"

He mumbled something I couldn't catch in our interconnected minds and stalked forward grumpily.

We scaled the uphill climb for twenty more minutes, keeping a ear out for any signs of danger or creepy lurking enemies.

They were the Grand Wolf Council. And I was starting to piece together why exactly were they looking for me.

King breed of Wolves... Extinction... Threatening... Juicy, delicious steak.

I paused, fighting down my hunger as Kyler caught up with me and slammed his blonde wolffish head against my side.

"What is this mountain anyway. I didn't even know that my pack had this part of the land!" he complained.

Something was definitely up with this place though, it didn't seem like it had been marked by any of the Silver Range and could well be mistaken as part of the wilderness.

My ears swiveled towards the shrubbery ahead of us and my wolf stirred awake.

"There's something there..."

I bristled and Kyler stopped, sensing an unknown presence.

"I think that right there marks the end of our territory," Kyler flicked his muzzle in the direction of a half dead oak tree.

"How do you know that?" I asked and he shrugged his shoulders, "Alpha gut instincts, I suppose."

"Hey earth to Alpha wolves! Are you going to cross that border or not. We're expecting you!" someone called from beyond the Silver Range territories and I growled, eyes darting around for the owner of the voice.

"Up here you dumb mutts!" the voice came again, this time sneering. My wolf disagreed with the rude tone and growled lowly, looking up at the trees when I spotted a pair of ice blue eyes staring right back at me somewhere up in a pine tree.

Then he let go of the tree, landing perfectly on the balls of his feet and remained a cautious distance away from where it marked Silver Range's turf.

"Vampire!"
