The arguments between them had been few and far between since the beginning of their relationship, however recent events had put a strain on them as well as their relationship and finally it had come to a boiling point. They stood in the kitchen of his house arguing about her helping fight The Beast the Dread Doctors had created. Scott was insistent that she stay home with his mom, saying that someone needed to be there to protect her but Y/N knew it was a full out lie and he just didn't want her going.

Ever since Allison died Scott had treated Y/N like some sort of china doll, something so easily broken that it wasn't worth the risk of letting it out of the box. They didn't fight often but when they did this was the fight they had; stern voices used again each other and death glares, but in the end no one ever really raised their voice and Scott always gave in before things got really heated. It was easier to let Y/N have her way with this argument because he knew when all was said and done she would just do what she wanted anyway.

That was until this particular fight. Scott was not giving up this fight. He felt it was far to dangerous for her to be anywhere but safe inside his home, curled up in his bed waiting for him to get back. He was determined to win this time. This determination led the alpha to raise his voice.

"I don't understand why you don't want me to go. You can't even give me a good reason."

"You are staying here and that's final!" Y/N took a step back at the sound of his voice. He had never used a tone like that with her and after the initial feeling of startle Y/N was infuriated, though still not willing to raise her voice to someone she loved and respected so much.

"I am not your child Scott, and I'm not some beta you can boss around. I'm your girlfriend and you aren't going to tell me what to do. If I want to go out there and help you I will because the only thing I will do here is worry about you." Scott took a deep breath before calmly continuing the argument.

"I can't protect you out there against this beast."

"You can't protect me, period. And you don't need to. I might not be amazing with weapons like Allison was or be able to outsmart every creature we come in contact with like Stiles but I have my own skills and I can take care of myself. I don't need you protecting me all the time because I don't always need protection." Scott leaned against the counters, he could hear his mom's heartbeat racing upstairs. She was under the impression that Y/N was an angel sent to protect her son and she was afraid of him losing her.

"Fine. You can come, as long as you promise me that you will do everything in your power to stay safe."

"I promise."

"Pinky promise?" Scott held out his right pinky with a small smile on his face. Y/N looked at his pinky and smiled.

"How about we kiss on it instead." Y/N took Scott's face between her hands and pulled him in for a deep kiss that was soon interrupted by Melissa.

"Oh thank God. Now will you two please hurry up? You have a town full of people to save."
