She wanted to go. Honestly she did but the thought of it was just too much. She looked at herself in the mirror, admiring the outfit she had picked out for her date with Scott while visions of all the terrible things that could happen passed through her mind. When the doorbell rang she slowly made her way down the stairs feeling her heart start to race and her breathing become shallow. She was overheating and felt like she was going to pass out before she even got to the door. By the time she opened the door to see a happy go lucky Scott standing their with his smile lighting up his entire face she was in full panic mode.

When Scott saw her his face dropped. As he wrapped his arms around her she collapsed into him crying to the point of screaming and unable to take a breath. Scott soothed her until she was calm enough to speak though her breaths were still shaky.

"Hey baby, it's okay just breath. Now I want you to think Logically about what's happening in your brain. What is anxiety?" Y/N took another shaky breath before answering.

"Anxiety is when your brain tells you that something is dangerous to you. It's a good thing, a normal thing."

"Yes, and what is an anxiety disorder?"

"An anxiety disorder is when your brain gets mixed up and thinks that something harmless is dangerous to you and makes you worry about it."

"Yup, now what is a panic attack?"

"A panic attack is when your brain tells your body you are in danger and you need to fight it or run from it even though there is nothing dangerous around."

"Agoraphobia?"

"Is when your brain is afraid of having the panic attacks that your brain is causing because your brain thinks it's helping you."

"So all these things are your brain being silly right? Your brain is just confusing itself right?" Y/N closed her eyes, leaning into Scott and finally calming down and answering.

"Yes. There is nothing dangerous around me, my brain is just being silly and confused. But that's okay I'm allowed to still feel this way, I just need to remember there is nothing wrong. I just have a silly brain." Scott soothed her for a few moments more before she moved from his arms to stand up and get a drink. Scott followed her to the kitchen and hugged her again.

"So do you think you are okay to go on our date?" Y/N thought for a moment about leaving the house and the thoughts came flooding back. She looked at Scott with tears in her eyes once again.

"I still can't leave. I'm too scared and I can already feel the panic attack coming again." Scott hugged her tighter and ran his fingers through her hair in an attempt to calm her again.

"That's okay, I understand. We'll get through this, I promise. Together we can do anything. Which includes overcoming that silly brain of yours that I love so much."
