🚨 Long Chapter Alert 🚨

I sat in the car in front of the building my house resides in just thinking.

Matthew's words continue to run through my mind, and I'm trying not to let them get to me because he was being a complete dickhead, but I can't help but think that he knows something that I don't.

I mean hell, the way Tina was blowing up my phone about going to the police, I think she knows something too.

I know Bey said that the reason she was distant was because she had a lot on her mind, but what if that wasn't the case at all.

What if the reason that she left was because she got tired of our relationship, or of me? What if she found someone else and left me to be with them. I mean I know I'm not the most perfect person in the world, but I did my best to love her the best way that I knew how.

I let out a frustrated breath of air, and I turned my car off, taking the keys out of the ignition.

I grabbed my purse, and I got out of the car and locked it up.

I made my way inside the building, and into the elevator.

When it got to my floor, the elevator doors opened, and the first thing I see are two police officers waiting to get on.

"Excuse me." I say passing them on my way out.

As I make my way down the hallway, I notice the person that lives in the apartment that I stopped at trying to make sure that Damien didn't know where I really live, was outside of her penthouse door crying.

I walked up to her and gave her a hug.

"Hey babes, what's wrong? Why were the police here?" I ask her.

"Hey Nicki, uh I came home like an hour ago to my door open, and when I walked in, my place was completely t-trashed. I mean I don't have anything valuable in here so I'm not sure what they were looking for. L-like I don't understand why my house was targeted, because no one else's house was robbed. Because of that, the police think its personal." She said.

I twinge of fear coursed through my body, only because I feel like it's quite a coincidence that they day after I stop in front of her door pretending that I live there, her house gets broken into.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry." I said rubbing her back. "You know I'm right down the hallway if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask ok?" I said.

"Yea I know Nic, the new guy down the hall said the same thing, but thank you, I appreciate it." She said.

She turned and walked into her house and closed the door. I walked a little further until I got to mine.

I fished my keys out of my purse, and just when I was about to unlock my door, a voice made me stop.

"You shouldn't live by yourself you know."

I turn around and there was Damien, standing in his doorway looking at me.

"And why is that?" I said crossing my arms over my chest.

"Well, for one, if something like what happened to the lady down the hall was to ever happen to you, you would be all alone. I mean she got lucky I think, since the burglar was already gone before she got back." He said walking towards me. "However, if something like that was to happen to you, and you are home when they break in, hypothetically of course, there is no way to protect yourself being by yourself." He said stopping right in front of me.
