The sky outside is dark, and it's raining pretty bad. It kind of reminds me of the night I made up in my mind that it was best for me to leave New York.

Although this trip has been long, it's hard for me to sleep due to the constant thoughts I have running through my mind.

I lay my head against the window, and the heat from my breath fogs the same spot on the window every couple seconds as I breathe.

I watch as the rain drops that plague the window, race to see who can get to the bottom of the window first.

I feel Onika stir in her sleep next to me, causing me turn my head and look at her.

She leans her body into me, and she lays her head on my shoulder. Her arms that were wrapped around my right arm, tighten around me, I guess to make sure that I'm still here, considering the last time she went to sleep with me, she woke up and I was gone.

As the bus continues to drive,  shadows dance across her face as they contrast the mixture of light from the headlights of passing cars and the roadside lights. She is so beautiful.

I take my left hand, and I run my thumb across the soft skin of her cheek, and I lean down and softly kiss her plump pink lips. The feeling that comes with having her next to me, and knowing that she's safe, is indescribable.

I turn to my right, and I look out the window to see that we are pulling up to the bus stop.

"Onika wake up" I say, trying to gently shake her awake. All she does is bury her face more into my shoulder.

"Come on baby you have to wake up, we're here." I tell her.

She groans and shakes her head.

"Beyy I'm tired, let me sleep." she whines, not moving from her position.

"You can sleep in the car Nic, I really need you to get up so we can get off this bus. I know your ass hurts just as much I as mine does from sitting in one spot for so long." I say, as the bus now comes to a complete stop.

She slowly opens her eyes while this cute pout settles on her lips. She sits up, and stretches before she starts to help me gather our things.

We step out of the bus, and I lead her over to a bench so that we have a covered area to sit while we wait for our uber to take us to my grandmother's house.

Initially I thought about going back to Houston to see what it is Kelly thought my mother should tell me, but I think we should stay away for at least a couple days, since David knows I was there.

The uber pulls up, and I put our things in the trunk, and I get in letting him know where we are going.

Nicki lays her head in my lap going back to sleep, I'm assuming, so that gives me some time to actually come up with some sort of plan about how I'm going to get David off my back.

You know it really blows my mind, that he would be the one coming after me after all the things I did and put up with for him.

I was there every time his father had him beat up, I was there when his mother died and his father blamed him for it, I was there when he needed someone to vent to and just be there for him, and not once did I complain about it, because that's what best friends are for.

I mean I damn near killed myself, when my father told me that he was dead, because for so long, I thought that if I wouldn't have helped him hide those diamonds, or if I would've talked him out of stealing them in the first place, then he would still be alive.
