Chapter 4: See You In The Dark

Aiden's POV

I drove Dawn to school just like I did everyday, but I noticed something off about her. She wasn't talking much and she was texting a lot. Every once in a while when she would read a text she would just smile. I was really confused, Dawn want much of a texting person.

"Hey you okay?" I asked her curiously.

"Yeah I'm good...why?" she replied.

"No reason, you're just texting a lot and that's not a normal thing for you," I teased her lightly.

"Oh sorry, I'm texting Demetri."

"Demetri," I said shocked. Dawn and Demetri were good friends but they werent best friends. Its kind of shocking to here this. There's nothing wrong with it, but its just really weird.

"Yeah we hung out last night and we've been texting ever since," she explained.

"Really?"

"Yup." And that ended all conversation until we got to school. Demetri and Skylar were waiting for us like always. We greeted each other but I could see Demetri and Dawn stealing glances at one another. Sometimes they would share a smile and Demetri would even wink at Dawn making her blush and causing him to chuckle. This is really bothering me, but why?

What the hell is going on, I thought.

There flirting, that's whats going on, a voice in my head replied.

Who the hell are you, I asked.

I'm you conscious.

Okaayyy....conscious...Dawn and Demetri aren't flirting. They don't like each other, I said stubbornly.

I wouldn't be so sure, my concious mocked me.

"Aiden? Aiden!" someone yelled.

"Huh?" was brilliant response.

"Dude I said I need to talk to you," said Demetri. I looked at Dawn quickly then at Demetri.

"Yeah, okay," I replied. Sky and Dawn walked toward the school chatting and laughing.

"Aiden, I need to ask you something," said Demetri.

"If you're gonna asked me out on a date...you should now I don't roll that way dude." I joked.

Demetri laughed and punched my arm lightly. "Sorry dude but  you're not my type."

I chuckled with Demetri for a little bit longer until he stopped and his face turned serious. "What do you have to ask me dude?"

"Should I ask Dawn out," he asked surprising me.

"What?" I managed to choke out.

Told you he liked her, said my conscious.

Shut up, I mumbled.

"Should I ask her out?" he repeated the question.

"Since when do you like Dawn?" I asked a  little tense. Why is this bothering me so much, I asked myself.

Because you like her as more than a friend, my conscious replied.

I do not like her that way and I thought I told you to shut the hell up!!!

"A while. I was just too much of a coward to ask her out. I mean she's amazing...she's sweet, kind,smart, funny, shy, adorable, and she can sing! She's one of a kind," Demetri sighed happily. He looked like a love struck puppy. But he was right Dawn was all those things.
