Chapter 5: What Hurts The Most

~One Month Later~

Dawn and Demetri were still together and they seemed to be doing well. They would hang out a lot during school and outside of school too. Every time I went to Dawn's house Demetri was always there and it was really starting to kill me slowly seeing them together all the time. I feel so stupid for not realizing earlier how much I loved Dawn. Now I was paying the price for my stupidity. Dawn would still hang out and talk to me, but most of the time she paid more attention to Demetri.

Every time they hugged, every time they kissed, I could feel my heart break a little. Once I finally admitted to myself that i was indeed in love with Dawn it didn't make accepting her relationship with Demetri any easier. Everyday that passes by, my love for Dawn grew more, but so did my heartache. I couldn't take it anymore, I had to talk to someone about what I was feeling so I texted Skylar and asked her to meet me at the ice cream store.

Skylar was there before me. That girl is fast! Did she fly here or something?

"Hey Skylar, thanks for coming," I said while hugging her.

"No problem, do you want to get some ice cream first," asked Skylar.

"Sure," I replied. We got our ice cream and went to sit at a table.

"So what's up Aiden," Sky asked curiously.

"I need to tell you something really important," I paused for a bit, " and I need your advice."

"Okay then spill, what has you looking all devastated," Sky teased lightly. I smiled slightly. Leave it to Sky yo make a tense moment more comfortable.

"For a while I didn't know why it bothered me that Demetri and Dawn were together. It didn't make sense to me, but then i finally realized why this was bugging me so much."

"And why is that," she asked with the biggest grin on her face which confused me.

"I'm in love with Dawn," I said. It felt so good to say it out loud. I felt like I could finally breathe normally once again and that a huge wait had been lifted of my shoulders.

Sky looked at me with a big smile an her face and then laughed lightly.

"Why are you laughing," I asked surprised.

"I'm sorry its just I'm really happy," she explained," its about time you realized your in love with Dawn.

"Wait, you already knew?!" I asked incrediously.

"Oh please!I knew way before you even knew yourself," she said with an eye roll.

I looked at her dumbfounded.

Ha ha sucker, my conscious teased me, even Skylar knew your feelings for Dawn before you!That's just sad!

Damn my conscious was right!Was I seriously that blind to not notice how I was falling for Dawn...well apparently I was.

"OKay well then I need your help," I said.

"With..." she trailed off.

"I know she's dating your brother, but I nee to tell her, I need to get this off my chest," I explained.

"Well I have an inkling she feels the same way."

"What?! Did she tell you something? Wait, if she feels the same way why is she with Demetri?" I asked quickly.

"You heard me. That's for me to know and you find out. And I never said she did, I said I had an inkling she did."

"Well then how are we gonna find out if she does," I asked desperately.
