Chapter 9: True Friend

Dawn's POV

I finished explaining to Aiden absolutely everything, how Sky and Demetri had planned the whole thing out, how I went along with it, how Blade and I had an argument, and finally how Demetri confessed to me that he was in love with me.

"I feel so awful for hurting him, he doesn't deserve it," I told him sadly.

"I'll talk to him, Ipromise. But I dont blame him for falling for you, you're amazing," he complimented me. I blushed which made him smile and he kissed me.

"So now it's your turn to tell me about you and Sky," I said softly.

"Well I guess I should start from the beginning," he sighed. "At first I didn't know why but seeing you with Demetri, holding his hand and kissing him, it made me mad. I didn't know why though. I kept thinking of you and Demetri together and it pissed me off. That's when I finally figured out I was in love with you."

He took a deep breath and then continued," I couldn't keep my feelings to myself so I asked Sky to meet up at the ice cream shop. I told her what I felt and she wasn't surprised. Then she came up with a plan to make you jealous to prove to me that you loved me. Her plan was just for her and me to hang out more and fore me to kinda ignore you when Sky was around. I kinda took it too far though. Sky saw you in the hallway and gave me the signal that were watching. I wasn't really thinking and I just kissed her. I thought it was the best way to get you jealous, I just never thought it would hurt you that much and for that I'm so sorry. Really. Don't be mad at Sky she was trying to help, I'm the one who crossed the line."

I stayed quiet trying to process what Aiden told me. Now I felt lika a real bitch for treating Skylar the way I did. I shouldve known Sky would never do anything to hurt me. Gosh I'm such a horrible friend.

"I seriously need to apologize to Sky. Ive treated her so bad these past two weeks," I told Aiden miserably.

He put his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him, "Im sure she'll forgive you."

"I hope because I don't want to lose her."

"you wont I promise."

We sat there in silence just looking at the waves and the seagulls flying around. The slight ocean breeze  rustled my hair and I could feel Aiden staring at me. I looked at him and smiled, he smiled back. My phone buzzed. It was a text form Blade.

Where are you?, he texted me.

I'm at the beach with Aiden, I'll explain when I get home. Promise, I replied.

He texted back almost immediately, Take your time and be careful, I'll see you when you get home ;)

I chuckled at my brother, always the tease.

"Who was it?" Aiden asked curiously.

"Blade," I said laughing a little. Aiden looked at me curiously and I explained, " he was just being funny."

Aiden shook his head and then turned serious.

"Are you going to talk to Skylar," he asked me.

I nodded slightly then asked, "can you call her and tell her to meet you at your house?"

He agreed and kissed me softly before pulling out his phone and called her. They agreed to meet up in an hour.

"We should head back then," I told him.

"Wait," he stopped me, "before we leave I need to ask you something."

"What is it Aiden?"

He pulled me closer to him before he asked, "Dawn Alexandria Valdez I was an idoit for not realizing I was falling for you earlier, but I know now and I never want to let you go. Will you be my girlfirend?"

A smile spread across my lips and I kissed his lips. He smiled into the kiss.

"I'll take that as a yes," he mumbled against my lips.

"Mmmhmm," was my reply. We kissed a little longer and then Aiden reluctantly pulled away. He took my hand in his and we went back to his car. The drive back to his house was filled with small talk and the occasional laugh.

We reached his house and Skylar and Demetri were sitting on his porch. I was nervous. I treated Skylar so bad I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't forgive me. And Demetri, oh Demetri, I was hurting him so much.

Aiden could see how tense I was and gave my hand a gentle squeeze. "You can do this," he whispered.

We got out of the car and made our way towards them.

"Hey they greeted simultaneously.

"Hey," we said back.

"Skylar can I talk to you please," I asked nervously.

She looked at me surprised but nodded.  I looked at Aiden and he got the hint. He turned to face Demetri and gestured for him to follow him.

"Demetri I need to talk to you man," Adien said.

"Sure dude," Demetri replied. They walked to the sidewalk and stood there talking.

"Skylar," I began, " I am so sorry for the way I treated you. You didn't deserve it. I shouldve trusted you and known you would never hurt me. Aiden explained everything to me and I did the same. Sky gosh I was such a horrible friend please-"  I was cut off by Skylar who jumped at me. She hugged me tightly and I hugged her back. We lost our balance and ended on our backs on the grass giggling like maniacs.

Aiden and Dmetri looked over at us as if we were crazy. Which, if  iwas being honest, we are!

"You two okay," asked Aiden with a small smile.

"Never been better," we said at the smae time which caused us to have a giggling fit again.

After calming down I got up and offered Sky a hand. i pulled her up. "I really am sorry," I told her sincerely.

"Would you stop apologizing already?!" There's nothing to forgive," she smiled at me. We hugged again and sat on the swing Aiden had on his porch. I told her everything that happened and watched the boys talk.

Aiden's POV

"Dawn told me everything," I told Demetri while we walked to the sidewalk to give Dawn and Sky some privacy.

"Did she now," he said lightly.

"Yeah..even that you confessed you fell in love with her."

He stayed silent and looked away.

"So its true? You lover her,"  I asked softly.

"Yeah I do..I don't know how how it happened it just did," he sighed.

"I know what you mean," I told him," You know she hates that shes hurting you."

"I kinda figured she would, but she shouldn't, I knew from the start  how she felt. I was just stupid enough to let my guard down."

"Im sorry dude."

"Its not your fault, I just want her to be happy, and I know she'll only be happy with you."

"Still."

"Forget it man, I'll get over it eventually," he said while smiling slightly.

We heard giggling and turned to look at Dawn and Sky. They were laying on the grass giggling their butts off.

"You two okay," I asked with a small smile.

"Never been better," they replied at the same time which made them giggle again. I'm glad those girls made up. Sky was really depressed and I could tell Dawn hadn't been much better.

"So Im guessing you and Dawn talked everything out," Dmetri asked.

"Yeah we did and we're kinda together now," I said cautiously.

"That's great news,I'm happy for both of you.But I'm warning you if you ever hurt her I'll forget your my best friend and Ill come after you," he teased, but I knew he was also being serious.

"I would never dream of it," I said while looking at Dawn...my girlfriend.
