Truth

(Gray POV)

"Get down to the guild asap" Natsu sounded excited. I groaned, "I'm busy, what's so urgent?" I really don't want to move. "It's a surprise, now get over here and hurry." I looked down at (Y/N) sleeping on me and then responded. "Fine, how soon do I need to be there?" Natsu hummed slightly, "Be here in 10." The line clicked silent and I shut off the screen.

I took my arm off of (Y/N)'s shoulder and slowly slid off the couch, trying not to wake her. I laid my phone on her coffee table and stretched. "Leaving?" (Y/N) yawned as she looked up at me. "Yeah, Natsu called and they said they were slammed so I need to head over there." I bent the truth. "Oh, okay." She yawned and stretched out. "I'll see you later." I walked out of her apartment and headed to mine to change out of my lounge clothes and the to the guild.

(Y/N POV)

I was laying on my stomach, sprawled out on the couch. I was flipping through the different tv channels, nothing sounded appealing. I heard a phone notification go off. Out of instinct I reached for my phone on the coffee table. Only it wasn't my phone, it was Gray's. "He must of set it down before he left..." I mumbled and then yawned. Out of curiosity I turned on the screen and looked at the preview of the text.

Natsu: The rest of the guild is-

The text was cut off. Guild? Gray didn't have a password on his phone. The temptation to look at the text was overwhelming. That's when I did it. I swiped my thumb cross the screen and opened the text.

Natsu: The rest of the guild is waiting on you, hurry up and get down here.

I was confused. I scrolled up through the rest of the texts. Texts about jobs, video games, and a lot of insults about flame brains and being an ice princesses. I closed out of the texts and thought for a minute. I decided to go through the rest of the phone. I opened his photo gallery. There weren't many picture on his phone but I still wanted to see. I wanted some answers to all the questions floating through my head. I went through them one by one.

The first one was a picture of gray shirtless and it looked like he was fighting with who I remember as Natsu. It almost looked fake, Natsu had flames enveloping his hands and you could see Gray's breath, like the room was really cold. It was a moment frozen in time that was hard to wrap my head around. I scrolled to the next one. This time it was just of Gray. He looked mad at the camera and his arm was slightly raised, like he was going to take the phone back. He had a drink pressed to his lips but the bar didn't match the one at Fairy Tail. It wasn't an unusual picture. The other pictures were all about the same.

I continued to look through everything I could think of, and it all brought me to the same conclusion. Gray is a mage. I didn't know what to think or how to feel. From the text to the few pictures on his phone. "It all makes sense..." I mumbled to myself.

(Gray POV)

I walked into the guild and everyone was sitting around, idle chatter floating among them. Natsu saw me and shouted from across the room, "Glad you came, Buddy. We are throwing a surprise party for Lucy's birthday." He smiled as he poured himself a drink. "You called me out for a surprise party?" I questioned, wishing I would have ignored his call. "We also need someone to cover the bar upstairs if you don't want to stay down here. We are alternating." He informed me. He then walked over and sniffed the air. "Oh I get it, You didn't want to come because you were with (Y/N)." He nudged me with his elbow. "Her smell is all over you, what were you two up to?" I glared at him and what he was suggesting. "Shut u-"

"SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HEAR SHE COMES" Levy shushed and whisper yelled. Mira cut the lights as the door from upstairs opened.

"Why are all the lights off? Hello?" Lucy's voice rang through the silent guild. The sound of her food steps coming down the stairs filled the air. As soon as she made it to the bottom the lights flipped on and everyone yelled a mixture of 'Surprise' and 'Happy Birthday'. "I'll take the first shift upstairs..." I said heading up to the main floor and put my name tag on.

I finally got leave around 11:00, glad that I wasn't working a full shift. I walked to the back and clocked out. Once I was walking back home, I reached for my phone in my back pocket. It wasn't there. I groaned and turned around, making my way back to the guild to look for it.

After realizing that it wasn't there I headed back to my apartment. 'Why am I always losing it..' I thought to myself as I climbed the stairs. When I made it to my floor and rounded the corner I was a bit surprised. (Y/N) was walking around the corner, with my phone in hand. She slightly smiled when she saw me. "You left your phone on my table... I thought I would bring it back to you tonight." She seemed a off, but I didn't put much thought into it. "Thanks, I was looking for it." she nodded and turned and went back into her apartment before I could say anything else. 'That was weird.'
