She hugged everyone and went off. The rest retreated home. They felt something was missing though, but they braced themselves as it wasn't gonna be easy without Ishita for 5 years.
As Ishita landed in London, she was greeted by Pathak's friend's cousin sister, Rinky. They shared a quick hug and Rinky drove to their rented apartment after buying a local handphone number for Ishita. While on the way, Rinky showed Ishita the hospital that she'll be doing her dentistry. Rinky explained the mode of taking the public transportation from home to work. Ishita managed to understand the routes quickly. As they reached, Ishita was showed to her room and she started unpacking her stuff. She rested then they had their dinner and retired to their rooms. Ishita was preparing for her first day of work. She was rather nervous. The word 'Raman' wasn't in her system for now as she got busy with her work. After settling down in bed she decided to FaceTime her family. After that, she talked to Pathak over the phone and fell asleep while on call.
Ishita wasn't used to the time zone yet, but after some time, it was all in her finger tips. She would wake up on time, go to work, and be home on time to cook dinner. She got really immersed into her work that she would forget to eat at times. But her housemate, Pathak's friend's cousin sister, as I said earlier, Rinky, made sure Ishita ate her meals and took her vitamins and medicines. She'll immediately report to Pathak if Ishita tries doing anything funny. By funny I'm sure you know what I mean. It became a norm for Ishita to talk to Pathak and her family everyday or once in two days if she's really busy.
5 years later,
Since the holidays in London and India weren't synchronized, she didn't visit for any functions, including Diwali too. She even had to miss Simmi's wedding as she had too many appointments that particular week. She had to FaceTime Simmi and Param to congratulate the new couple on their marriage and also to apologize that she really couldn't attend the wedding. As of what she knew, Simmi had gave birth to a baby girl named Ananya around 5 months back. She really wanted to go back to Delhi since she was missing everyone terribly. Her Amma and Appa missed celebrating functions and doing family rituals with the presence of their Ishu. So that day, was the day her 5-year contract was gonna end. She went to the immigration to renew her passport. Then, she went to sign few documents saying that her contract ended. Because they liked her work and the way she bonded with her patients and colleagues, Ishita was offered a 10-year contract with a salary of £15000. But Ishita being Ishita, rejected it.
Person: Ms Iyer, please accept this contract. We're willing to increase the salary up to £20000 because your work is liked by the health inspectors, and that happens only once in a blue moon.
Ishita: I understand what you're trying to say sir. It's not about the money. You see, I have parents and a sister under my responsibility. They're getting old too. They need me as a daughter and as a sister. If you really wish to help me, you can try fixing a permanent job for me as a dentist in Delhi with a reasonable salary. I would really appreciate it as it won't be a burden for me to search for a job once I go back to Delhi.
Person: What you're saying is true too. Anyways, we're happy with your decision. We won't go against it. And don't worry, you'll get the offer letter for your job in Delhi once you go home. We'll mail it formally to your house in Delhi. Thank you for your wonderful service Ms Iyer. You'll be missed by he entire health department. Have a safe journey back home.
Ishita: Thank you so much for respecting my decision sir. And for the job, thank you so much. I'll be leaving now.
Ishita went to her rented house. She slowly started packing her stuff into her big luggage bag. She told Pathak and her family about her flight to India the next day, but she didn't tell them it's a one way ticket. She's not planning to come back to London, as she has responsibilities to take care off. She was deep in thoughts while packing. Just then, her phone started ringing. It was Pathak's FaceTime call. She saw the time and knew it was their regular calling time. Just that today is FaceTime instead of normal WhatsApp call. Ishita betrayed her packing and came to answer her phone.
