Chapter 8:

Avalon's P.O.V.

I heard my cell phone ring from the kitchen where it charged.

I ran, full speed and answered it.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey," she said.

"I was just thinking of calling you," I admitted.

She giggled. "Once again. Great minds think alike,"

"Where are you?" I asked her.

"At home, now." she said.

"Ok. Well I have some things to take care of here and I will be there soon," I said and hung up.

Word got out. Like when the guy was sent to kill Haley before she was born. Because she was my mate.

Word had got arround to my mother and father. Why was this epic? They were royalty.

I would have been next to take the throne. I would have taken it. But I wasn't into the whole slave thing.

Yes we had slaves. I didn't want to beat people for not doing what I asked. It would be terrible.

Around 1800, Braith and I were banned from every returning to our homeland of Charlston. If Braith had let me go and just stayed and put up with it, she  would have been queen.

But Braith and I had a connection, that our brother, Drystan, could never have. Love.

Drystan was the 'runt of the litter' as we called him. He was the baby, while Braith was the eldest.

Let's just say, word got arround and Drystan has come to visit.

----------------------------------------

"How is the chicken?" I asked John as I made the pasta and Braith made the sause.

"It's good. Still cooking through. The garlic bread is done though," he said and I saw him set it on the counter to cool.

"How are we doing on wine?" I asked Braith. She was the big wine drinker.

"Good. There's some on the counter over there," she said and pointed to the counter lining the wall behind me.

"Good. Johnny, watch the pasta. I'm going to go clean up," I said and ran into the living room.

We weren't that messy, but there were blanket lining the couch and bowls of old popcorn on the coffee table.

I folded the blankets and put away everything on the table.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"6:45. Come help," Braith said and I ran into the kitchen.

We placed everything in the dining room. The fish, the breads, the other meats, the fruits, and the drinks. Burbon and wine.

"Are we ready?" I asked and looked the couple up and down to make sure everything was right.

John and I wore tuxes and Braith wore a long, dark purple dress with yellow trimmming that she was supposed to have wore on corination day.

"Yes," they both said.

The door bell rang and we all took a deep breath before Braith walked to the door and opened it.

"Brother," I heard her say.

John and I took seats next to eachother and waited for our guest of honor.

"Sister. How has married life been?" I heard him ask.

"Wonderful. Yours?" she asked him.

He was forced to marry a woman older than even I was.

"Wonderful as well. Where are my two brothers?"

These words raised rage within me. I would never be his brother, and neither would John.

"They are waiting. Right this way," she said and we heard her heels clack on the floor untill she reached the entrance to the room.

There he was. The charming smile still plastered on his face.

Light brown hair gelled back and light blue eyes growing slight wrinkles. I saw his hair turning grey in some places.

Oh, being a king is SUCH stressful work.

"Brothers, it is good to see you again," he said and walked over to us with his arms wide open.

He stopped walking when neither John or I stood up to give him a proper greeting. He went to the seat across from me and next to Braith.

Drystan snapped his fingers from his seat, as if to signal someone to serve him.

"We do not have servants here. I am afraid you will have to serve yourself," I said sarcastically.

He gave me a petrified look. "Brother! I am shoked at you! How could you not have human muts to do your work?" he asked.

"We don't think lowly of humans, brother. This is why we are exiled," John said.

"You dare not talk lowly or ME would you?" Drystan asked John as we started to fill out plates.

"No," he said.

We bagan to eat silently. Untill Drystan started talking. "Brother, I hear you found your mate,"

I looked up from my plate. "Yes. It seems I have,"

"When do I get to meet the lucky lady?" he asked and we all looked at him in surprise.

"According to your rules, not for a while," Braith said.

"My rules, huh," he waited a moment. "What if I could find a way for us to let her see you?"
