Don't leave me

Killer's giant truck rumbled up to the sidewalk in front of the dorm. You'd sat nervously waiting for him in the snow for over an hour, so the heat of the truck's cab was extremely welcomed. It was a three-hour drive to the hospital Kid had been taken to.

"What happened?" You blurted before you could even buckle up.

"He left early this morning. I guess there were still some drunks out." Killer stared ahead, "They ran him into an embankment ejecting him from his bike. Apparently, a low barbwire fence stopped him but his left arm was pretty mangled up."

A wave of nausea flowed through you as a knot formed in your throat.

"I-is he gonna be OK?" You croaked.

Killer's hand enveloped your knee giving you a reassuring squeeze.

"He's pretty durable." He smiled.

A question you hadn't thought to ask before this moment flashed through you mind.

"Why did you come get me?"

Killer turned to look at you through his shaggy bangs, "He asked for you."

It was a simple enough response. And if it were anyone else you wouldn't have thought twice about it. This was Kid, your enemy... you are enemies... right?

He asked for you in a vulnerable moment after being injured, why?

"I didn't really think to ask but are you OK to stay the night? We can drive back tomorrow afternoon when Kid's parents get back to town. I didn't want him to be alone."

"I'm off so it's fine. It isn't far from the Newgate's. I can crash at their place." You tapped your chin.

"Don't be ridiculous. You're staying with me at Kid's place."

"Alright." You sheepishly agreed.

By the time you arrived at the hospital it was evening. Kid was stable and allowed to have visitors though he wasn't conscious. Nurses prepared you and Killer before you entered the room. Your heart fell at the list of injuries he'd sustained.

The light above his bed was on the lowest setting high lighting the copper undertones in his hair. Fresh bandages covered 60% of the left side of his body. Normally he was pale but in a beautiful pearly sort of way, right now what wasn't bruised, was beyond white; a faded matte version of himself. You swallowed hard as Killer guided you further into the room and took a seat to his right.

"Oh Kid." You breathed just below a whisper brushing your fingers over the scratched black nail polish he always managed to keep so perfect.

A bedside monitor pinged at a steady pace while his hand twitched beneath yours.

"T- thiiirsty." He whined in a low dry voice eyes still shut.

"Kid?" Killer murmured.

You both watched quietly as the redhead stirred. His eyes opened but remained half lidded.

"I'll go see if he can have some water." Killer turned to exit.

"F/N?" He whispered lacing his fingers with yours.

A flush washed over you at the sound of your own name.

"H-hey." You forced a small smile, "Are you hurting? Killer is getting a nurse I think."

He blinked slowly, eyes still heavy from being sedated.

"My left arm feels...weird?" His brows knit.
