CHAPTER TWELVE

NAILS & DAFFODILS

HIMAWARI UZUMAKI

When you get reborn and live an entirely new life, it's weird, but you get used to it.

Similarly, when you move to from a small cottage on the outskirts of the city, to a big university right smack dab in the center of the city, it's weird, but you get used to it.

"Let's go get our nails done!" ChouChou exclaimed, much to my surprise.

Sarada and I exchanged glances. Neither of us had ever gotten our nails done, so both of us were really confused. "Nails... done?" I looked at ChouChou in confusion.

"Y'know, when you go get your nails done by ladies... I mean, some guys.. and you think they are talking about you behind your back because they speak a different language then look at your feet in disgust?"

"Huh?" I looked at ChouChou in confusion.

"You seriously don't know?!" ChouChou exclaimed. "They massage you, and give you maximum comfort!!"

"Sounds weird." Sarada commented.

"C'mon! It'll be fun! Let's do it!"

"Wha—-?" Thus, we were off to experience something quite... unique, to say the least.

After being dragged to the nail salon, I was welcomed with the scent of daffodils and immediately understood. But... it looked more like a torture chamber to me. Some people were picking at the other's nails, cutting off their cuticles, while the other just let them do it!

"Three mani-pedis, sir."

"Separate checks?" He asked.

"Nah... I'll pay for all of my friends..." She sighed, realizing she had the exact amount of money in her purse. "Guess I'll be balling on a budget after this."

I chuckled at that remark. What? You thought I'd be a nice Himawari and help ChouChou pay? I would of... except I didn't know this was a pay-with-money event, so I didn't bring any... oops. After payment, Sarada and ChouChou started bickering. Sarada wanted to know the exact price and pay her back, but then decided she'd just pay for dinner afterwards.

Two ladies and one guy came up to us, happy to do our nails. "First, pick out a color. Then come to this seat right here. We'll be waiting." The guy said, smiling politely, but it seemed as if he was smiling maniacally.

He then turned on the water and the chair, letting the water soothingly bubble and the chair begin to vibrate. ChouChou picked out her color almost immediately- a bright pink. Sarada? A bright red the color of her glasses. Me? Well, I had no clue.

"What about you, Hima-chan?" ChouChou asked. "What color?"

"I don't know. There's so many!" I exclaimed.

"What about mint?" Asked the familiar Uchiha. She held the nail polish bottle tilted. "It would go well with your skin and your eyes."

"Mmm...hmm!" ChouChou nodded, "I agree!"

"Okay. Whatever you say." I smiled, letting ChouChou continue to lead us on this journey into the Wild Wild West side of the nail salon... aka the normal West side.

She hopped in her chair first, I sat in second, and Sarada went in hers on the other side.

Across from me, sat two blondes. One had a newspaper in front of their face, and the other was texting away on her cell phone. She looked up from her phone to check the newcomers.
