Kylie looked at the blood staining her katana, the runed blade still shimmering. "That was the first time I ever harmed a human with this blade. But I was brought up to only harm the demons. But he," she pointed at Tom, "he is the real demon."
"I never knew you had a katana, Kylie." Thea said. "Goodwork. But we can't keep Tom here. We'll take care of him."
Kylie stood up. "Send him where? To the eternal doom of heaven?"
"He escaped there. No. This time, I'm keeping him where there'll be an army for him to fight through before he escapes, but he won't. He can't escape this time. He can't escape time."
Tom blinked his eyes open, long enough for him to see a brown haired girl at the edge of his vision. Perfect. His plan had worked. He heard Thea ramble on, and as discreetly as possible, hypnotised the shadowhunter girl. So Althea really had been so desperate. He faked unconsciousness, and sent the girl on her way.
Kia had been in 'shadow form', as she liked to call it. She kicked Tom's face again. "Not so fast, Brownie." stepping on his chest, she conjured a shadowy eye mask for the son of Dementia.
"Brownie?" Thea scratched her head. "Nescius!"
"Unconscious? Isn't he already?" Kylie looked confused. "I assure you, my technique is sufficient to knock out a warlock."
"Tom is not your average warlock. Let's just call him a fallen angel, shall we?" Thea explained. "He is the master of illusions and tricks. You never know when he's watching."
Kylie walked up to Wren. "Wren, you okay?"
Wren stared at Kylie, eyes blank.
"Um, Wren? What are you doing?" Kylie circled the blank faced girl cautiously. "Thea, or should I say, Althea, what's wrong with Wren?"
Thea walked up to Wren. She waved a hand in front of her face, before she muttered under her breath. "Staturm uestrum."
Kia gasped. "Oh. Crud." She looked at Wren, who still looked like she was in a zombie-like trance. "Stupid Latino brunettes. I don't mean Leo."
"I was too late." Thea groaned. "I can't free her from his sway. I can only counter magic, not in-born abilities."
------------
Tristan's voice cut into Thea's mind, his voice urgent and panicked. Thea, are you and the girls okay? I think Alistair's having a seizure.
Alistair gasped, muscles contracting. "Where... did... the..." He screamed, collapsing onto the floor. With his barely working brain, he managed to deduce that he had been crucio-ed. But the question he had in mind was who was it?
------------
Thea nodded. I'm coming. Stay put. Thea ran towards the library, before yelling, "Kylie, Kia, keep Tom and Wren busy. Alistair's got trouble." Thea shook her head. Running would take too long. She closed her eyes, flashing into the library, where she saw Alistair crumpled onto the floor. "What the hell happened?" She put her hand on his forehead, pulses of silver going through his body. "A crucio? But the only wizard here is Alistair! Unless... Dolori."
Tom heard the spells Thea was casting. Little Althea must have found his new partner's surprise gift. He grinned inwardly. Perfect. Everything was perfect.
------------
Alice stood at the warehouse, counting all the missing shadowhunters and demigods. "Where are they! I want double support, and the rest of our troops surrounding the institute! Tom is inside, counting on us, as well as his new partner. Move it!"
------------
Weaving her hands in and out, Thea created a web of light, and placed it on the shivering Alistair, who was cursing in pain. "Tristan, keep a watch on him. Try some mind-healing spells. I wasn't born a healer, I was born a warrior. My abilities aren't very suited for healing." She ran off, leaving the confused warlock behind her. "Ipsum revelare!" She sent another wave of energy through the building, and the images flashed into her mind like sonar. "Found you."
------------
Kia summoned the shadows to her aid, binding Wren's wrists. Wren tried to slip away, but the daughter of the shadows was faster. She smiled grimly. "Now, Thomas Drake Jr, what shall I do about you?"
------------
Tristan closed his eyes, delving into Alistair's mind. He was never very good at mental stuff, he was a more visual person. He drifted through the younger boy's mind, sorting through the memories. Slowly, he pushed himself out after finding a specific person. He spoke to Thea through their mental link. The culprit is Alistair's former friend, Hufflepuff gone rogue.
Thanks, you're amazing Tristan. I'll keep on the lookout. Thea walked around. "Come on out, little hufflepuff. They say don't stereotype, but I'm starting to think you're not all that useless. Stupid, maybe. Who walks into an institute, or should I say, apparate?" Thea followed a light trail of blood. "So you splinched, huh. Too bad, I won't heal you." Taking a small vial from her bag, she opened it, and a silver mist wafted out. It was one of her experiments, a virus that would incapacitated the subject, and it was basically invisible to the naked eye. There was only one teeny problem: it smelt really bad, and normal people would be able smell it from a mile away. But with the rogue hufflepuff missing his or her nose, she hoped she could use it to her advantage.
------------
Kylie reared back, as Tom began to struggle. "You hold Wren, I'll deal with this guy!"
Wren lunged at Kia, and Kia slid aside. "Too close for comfort." She muttered darkly. She bound Wren's wrists and ankles with the shadows, stopping the Shadowhunter from attacking her.
------------
Jensen grabbed his nose stump. Upon apparating, he had splinched, so he would have to deal without a nose for now. With his other hand, he reached for his wand. "Vulnera Sanentur." He muttered, gently poking his wand at the empty space.
------------
Kylie spun, delivering a swift kick to Tom's head as he struggled with the blindfold. The latino stumbled back, before he got his arms in front of him, ready to protect or attack at any moment. "Can you help pin down Tom for me?"
Tom struggled, and he ran, ran from the shadows, ran from the three girls behind him, ran towards the Light. Alice, are you ready yet, my dear?
Alice stumbled as she heard Tom's words in her mind. Yes, Tom, we're ready. Surrounding the old cathedral. But some of these forces I cannot control properly, so you have to be ready. Has your new little henchwoman disabled the shields yet?
Not yet, Alice dear. But I always have a contingency plan. Our new wizarding friend will keep the other three busy, and I'll have to deal with these three. I'm about to set the device, so I'll tell you when I'm ready. Tom replied. He continued to run, before planting a small beeping device. Should take about twelve minutes to activate, so better get to Jensen.
------------
Thea grinned, a flash of silver energy looping around the hiding wizard's neck, pulling his wand towards her. "Exponentia prohibere! Aperire animo!" The healing spell stopped, and he struggled in his grasp as she delved into his mind. "Your occlumency is quite advanced, impressive. But no one can beat the original latin spells." She looked through, and finding an image of Tom, inspected it. They had become partners, but both held a knife to each other's back. "Théma omológon! An kápoios pethánei o állos tha akolouthísei, an kápoios aisthánetai póno, o állos tha páei pára polý. [Bind them! When one dies, the other shall die, when one feels pain the other shall too.]Now, let's make Tom scream."
