"It's not really a hate. It's probably, well, my friend's father works for Kia's father, so he is indebted to serve her as well. But it's bit better now for him, since they share a cabin." Thea smiled, before flicking her hand, sending a message to Dom to meet him outside. Just saying, Dom does not know about Shadowhunters. Keep that in mind. Introduce Kylie as a friend from Japan. I'll let him now that she's a daughter of Clio, one of the muses. "His name is Dominik, or what we call him, Dom, or Butterfly. He's what you might call a warlock, and his warlock's mark would be his unnatural violet eyes."
Dom travelled through the shadows, before solidifying from the shadows of the lamp post. "This is one old church. I'll be damned." He said, before he waited for Thea to welcome him in. Or should he just knock? Dom huffed at his inner voice, and the knocked on the door.
Thea heard the knock, and a grin appeared on her face, opening the door. "Hey Dom. Nice of you to come. We're going to a nightclub for a lead on Tom. Coming?"
Kylie followed the younger girl, and saw the boy, and her breath hitched. The boy had unruly, raven black hair; pale skin that seemed to flicker to teakwood, before turning back to being as pale as a ghost; and violet eyes that glowed. There were golden flecks in his eyes, but they would often just fade away from the purple of his eyes. He was truly beautiful, timeless, remote. He had a double ended broadsword strapped to his back, the edges glowing a strange silver, and a large scythe as well. "You must be Dominik. Nice to meet you, I am Kylie."
"Hello to you too?" He scratched his head, before looking at Thea again. "So, nightclub. Since when do you invite me to these parties?"
"Since when did you carry around a scythe?" Thea asked, admiring the blade. "It's well crafted. Beautiful engravings."
"Why do you love my weapons more than me, Thelle?" Dom pouted, and then his face darkened. "Dearest old dad decided to gift me with an enchanted weapon for my late birthday present. Or my early birthday present. I honestly don't know."
Alistair groaned. "Not you again!" It was Death Boy. He didn't have anything against Dom, but he really didn't like him always hanging around Kia.
Kia smacked his shoulder, scowling. "Be nice, Alistair. He's just a friend." She saw Alistair frown, and she sighed. "At least be civil. Even if you don't like him much, do try and keep it to yourself."
"Plus, I'm is obviously interested in someone else." Dom said, smiling. "I'll just be in the friend zone buying my apartment. Want to be roommates, Alistair?"
Kylie looked surprised. So Dom did have a secret crush, but something about Kia's expression showed that it wasn't so secret. Kylie followed Dom's gaze to her fellow dark haired companion. Of course. The regal, powerful Thea. Of course he would fall for an angel. He was a warlock after all. But something didn't add up. Thea's fascination in ancient Greek mythology. The fact that Dom sensed like a Shadowhunter instead of a child of Lilith. And how this new guy Alistair seemed like neither.
Alistair laughed bitterly, making sure Kia wasn't listening. "Join the club. I've been friendzoned for almost twelve years now." He'd met Kia when he was six and she was five, but he had a crush on her ever since. "I've probably got a room in the friendzone specially tailor made for me."
"Does Wren have any party clothes?" Thea asked. "Not for me, of course, but for Kia, and you. Do you have any party clothes?" Thea scratched her head, before cracking her neck. "We will need to blend in for Pandemonium. The guys, erm, we'll raid Jace's closet? Where is everyone? In Idris?"
"Yes. There is a Clave meeting, but we stayed here to protect the Institute in case of any attack. And no, Wren is a little too tall for Kia, and a little too short for me. And Jace doesn't really have any party clothes, he just runes himself up with a bit of glamor. I could help-"
"-Nope. No runes for them. I guess we could go to my place and I could whip something up for you." Thea used her hands to create a mock photo frame around Kia and Kylie, and then Alistair and Dom. "Dom, you have party clothes, so you should be fine. And you two, I think Leah's got a few designs that should match. Alistair, ask Dom for a set. I'm not a fan of making guy clothes."
"Your place? Do you not live in an Institute with the others?" Kylie asked, slightly confused.
"In the summer I sometimes stay at the Institute, but I have a house down at Archer's Lane. My friend, Leah, loves fashion designing, and since I'm a pretty good seamstress, I make her designs and sell them, as well as magical amulets or weapon jewelry. Come on, I'll take you there. Kylie first, then Kia. Kia, you can go mess around in the gym if you want, it's second floor."
Dom grinned. Their house, since even though it technically belonged to 'Dianne Chase', Annabeth's older illegitimate 'cousin', daughter of the late Randolph Chase, all four of them lived there. That was just Thea's adult persona that got all the legal paperwork done so it wasn't strange that four underage teenagers lived by themselves. "Come on, let's go! A trip through the shadows, my lady Kia? I will lead you, and you can just follow my trail. Bring Alice, I'll take these two. I don't want Thea to get tired."
Kylie flinched as the Eurasian boy grabbed her hand, and then Thea's and turned them all into smoke. It was a strange feeling, being weightless, like there were no strings attached. They landed outside what seemed like an ordinary clothing shop, with an neon sign glowing silver sign that said Venatrix. Huntress. The 'V' of Venatrix sported a bow and arrow, there was a wolf silhouette in the background.
Kia rolled her eyes. "Seriously, stop calling me Lady, Dom. I may your dad's boss' daughter but that doesn't mean you have to act like we're not on the same level." She turned to Alistair. "Come on, stop staring at me like a creep and let's go." Alistair barely had time to nod or defend himself before Kia shadow travelled them both away to Thea's shop.
Kia stumbled slightly as they landed in front of Venatrix. Instinctively, Alistair wrapped both arms around her hips, pulling her flush against him. She gasped, heartbeat hammering against her ribcage. Alistair's deep voice rumbled through his chest. "Kit, you good?"
Kia placed a hand on her frantically beating heart. "Yeah, I'm good," she whispered, "how 'bout you?" She mentally kicked herself for sounding so breathy, a blush rising on her cheeks. She shouldn't be so close to him, but she couldn't find it in herself to leave.
Alistair nodded, keeping his grip tight around the younger girl's waist. "So that's shadow-travelling?" He murmured. "It's not actually too different from Apparating." His lips grazed against her ears, and he felt her tremble.
"We have an audience!" Kia hissed, disentangling herself from Alistair's arms.
