Thea nudged Berniss away from her concentration, and the younger girl gave her a 'really?' look. Thea discreetly created a silver arrow, and pointed it at Kia and Alistair. "Just asking, did you all meet in an orphanage or something? Because Kia and Gavin's parents are dead. I don't know if she knows that, she probably does, but Gavin? Probably not."
Berniss smirked. "Dad is actually godfather to them both. Their mother was an auror, and she passed away back when Kia and Gavin were kids. When the Silverdrake siblings moved in, it was like complete mayhem, according to Cole. Dad says three kids are enough, but Gav and Cole are mature enough. Apparently, Kia and Alice were chaos in human form as kids."
Thea resumed her training regime as she watched the younger girl struggle to channel her inner Hecate. "Don't try to push it out of you, Niss. Your magic isn't a weapon, it's a part of you. It's like moving your fingers: you don't think about moving your fingers, you just do." Thea was currently hanging upside on a bar she had temporarily attached to the roof, and was doing sit ups. She heard Kia's low 'show-off', and sighed, before flipping herself off and landing next to Kia, who was struggling to use her wand with Alistair. "Kiki, loosen up. You can't force magic to happen. Plus, class is about to end, and we have to get back to the Institute."
Kia grimaced. "I don't mind the Institute, but Thea," she turned to Berniss, "and Niss, I really am not looking forward to you two and Wren ganging up on me."
Alistair frowned. "Wait didn't Wren get possessed or something?" Not that he didn't have faith in Tristan, but Tom was a powerful demigod. "And remind me, what was so bad about her again?"
Kia shrugged casually. "Yeah, Wren did get possessed. But Kylie and Tris are smart, they'll probably be fine." Hopefully, when they got to the institute Wren and Tris wouldn't be making out. That would just be gross. "And Wren's fine- she, Thea and Niss just like to ask when we're going to start dating."
"Which I hope is soon." Thea added, walking on the ceiling. The third years were starting to pack away, hurrying off to their next lesson, and she watched out of the corner of her mind that Niss was hanging around at the back. Probably prepared to skive class and follow them out.
The class emptied out, and Gavin closed the door gently. "I'm gonna stay here, guys." He grabbed Kia by the shoulders. "Stay safe, okay Kiki?" He looked into her eyes, fear gleaming in his.
Kia sighed, hugging her brother. "Gavvy, I'll be fine." Demigod life was never easy, and there were any guarantees about when they could get killed. Gavin was a worrywart, but Kia understood. He was her older brother... He felt responsible for her safety.
"Don't worry, Gavin, I'll take care of her." Thea smiled, patting him on the back from the ceiling, before she walked out of the room, still on the ceiling. Suddenly, she realised that it was pretty weird if she was going to walk out on the ceiling, so she jumped down, arms on her hips, as she watched the slightly tearful goodbyes.
Gavin turned to Alistair, who was standing behind Kia protectively. "Keep her safe, okay?" Alistair looked at the older boy. He felt proud of himself, as Gavin trusted him with Kia's safety. "Promise me you'll protect her. Promise me."
Alistair nodded sincerely. "I promise. I'll protect her. Always." Gavin chuckled, clapping Alistair on the back.
Berniss ran up to them. "Hey! Can I come with you guys?" Or rather, she'd go with them whether they allowed her to or not.
"No." Thea said simply, shaking her head. "You're good and all, but somethings aren't suited for younger children. Especially where we're going."
Berniss pouted. "Please? I'll be good. I'll stay at the Institute. Or maybe Camp Half-blood? Please?"
Alistair scowled. "No. Absolutely not. You need to stay at school, go to your classes like a good witch should." Most importantly, his sister had to be safe. If Niss got hurt, he didn't know what he'd do with himself.
Kia raised an eyebrow. "Just asking, when were you ever good? According to what you told me, you were a prankster." Berniss agreed heartily, smirking at her older brother.
Alistair grinned, wrapping an arm around Kia. "Oh, Kiki. I never said I was good." He said teasingly. He lowered his lips to her ear, feeling her shiver involuntarily. "Plus, I know you want me whether I'm good or bad." He saw the crimson flush that rose to her cheeks, and he was sure everyone else did too.
Gavin shuddered. "No. Just no. If you're going to flirt, get outta my classroom. I've got a bunch of first years next, and I don't want you ruining their innocence."
"Some girls love a bad boy, Alice." Thea winked, and then burst out into laughter. "But seriously, we've got to go. We've been gone for about two hours, three at the most, and I'm pretty sure that Tristan and Kylie have either found a way to reverse the effects on poor Wren, or they need my help because Wren's escaped." Flashing them all out into the grass next to the Black Lake, and put a hand to the water. She knew that Berniss was chasing after them, and as quickly as she could, began to draw power from the murky depths of the lake. She looked at Alistair's confused look, and sighed. "I'm still a daughter of the seas, Alistair. I draw power from water, and since it's harder to get out than in of Hogwarts, if you don't count escaping into the forbidden forest, I need a bit more juice if we want to get out of here in one piece."
Berniss ran as fast as she could. She knew all the secret hallways of Hogwarts, and she knew how to get out quickly. A few months ago, she'd found a secret passageway that ended under a rock near the Black Lake. Neither Alistair, nor Fred and George, nor the Marauders knew about it, so she was extremely proud of herself. She'd kept a mental hold on Alistair's mind, as he didn't have a mental shield like Thea did. She crawled into the tunnel, stopping. "Wingardium Leviosa." They'd never know she tagged along. Well maybe just Thea. Shhh.
Thea knew in the back of her head that Niss was creeping up on them, and she sighed. There was no getting rid of that girl. Summoning her power, she blasted towards the ground, flashing them all back to the outside of the cathedral that held the Institute. Hurriedly, since it was nighttime back in America, she knocked on the door, and a distraught Kylie. "What's wrong? How's Wren?"
