"Since when did I have any problem against you?" Thea lifted her hands. "Ready when you are." Her silver energy curled around her black gloves, but it wasn't actually that obvious to those who were watching. With her black and silver gauntlets hidden underneath her sleeves, it was impossible to tell that it was energy coating her gloves, and not just designs.
Kia nodded. She splayed her arms our, shadows shooting towards Thea in the form of a javelin. Some of the first years watched in awe, leaning forwards to get a better look. Others flinched back in fear, unwilling to believe that some girl was simply using her mind to control the dark. Their own professor's younger sister, no less!
Thea simply closed her eyes to concentrate, feeling the disturbance in sound waves from the shadows nearing her, and she flung a hand up, hands full of moonlight, creating a shield in front of her, and sent the entire mass of energy straight back at Kia. Kia ducked, and the energy blasted another hole in the wall. Thea sighed, golden light at her fingertips as she flicked her hand, repairing the wall with her mind. "As you saw there, both our spells, a nox for Miss Silverdrake and a variation of lumos and reparo from me, were performed non verbally, without a wand. This type of magic is quite advanced, so if you would like to choose a partner, we could work with the attacker trying for a simple expelliarmus? And defend with a protego?" Gavin, I need a bit of help with the types of spells because my spells aren't exactly the same as yours.
On it, Carter. Gavin replied, or at least attempted to. He clapped his hands. "Alright kids, you heard what Thea said- partner up!" The class grumbled. They had already learned this back in first year, but only a few managed to do it.
Alistair dusted himself off, flexing his arms. "Kia, I'll help you with the spells and pronunciations and movements and whatever." Kia nodded. She knew she didn't know how to use a wand properly, let alone say the spells, so Alistair's help would've been great.
"Sure, go ahead. Lemme- whoops-" Alistair watched with amusement as Kia fumbled with her wand, frowning adorably when she dropped it. "Okay, I got it."
Thea watched as the students tried their best to fire spells without their wands, before walking towards Berniss, who appeared to be without a partner. "Niss, can't find anyone to be your partner since your skills with them is unmatched?" Berniss gave her a knowing glance, and Thea smiled. "How about you and me? I'm sure that I am up to your standards, even if I have no natural affinity in magic. I also want to help you with your other powers, some that you might not realise you have due to you being a demigod. As a former demigod, I assure you, by the end of today you will be whooping Alistair's ass. He's a hopeless case now, since he already graduated Hogwarts and relies way too much on his wand that his other possible abilities have been weakened, but you're just out of the hatchet. Perfect for me to work with."
Berniss grinned. "Whooping Alistair's arse? That's always a good thing. I love how you call my big bro a hopeless case... " She lowered her voice, looking around cautiously. "He's more like hopelessly in love with Kia. I swear, He's been mooning over her even before she left. Heck, by the way he talks about her he probably daydreams about her in class!"
"Also, it might help if you knew a teensy bit about physical combat. So, your pick. Physical combat, or I help you augment your magic skills? You can only choose one because I'll only have time to teach you one. I could actually teach you both, but if I'm fighting against a proper magic user, I'm honestly not bothered to suffer the strain of maintaining concentration so that I freeze the entire world in time just to help you with your lacking skills. Your choice." Thea cracked her knuckles one by one, before stretching, cracking her backbone. "Ah, much better. What do you want?"
"Hmm, I'm going to go with physical combat. Queenie helps me with controlling the Legilimency stuff, and I'm sure the Hecate kids can help me with my demigodly magic. I want to know how to fight for myself if my wand ever gets taken from me, or worse, snapped."
"You got it, girl." Thea smiled, before summoning a small dummy. "Punch it." The younger girl punched it, and the dummy wobbled slightly. "Don't punch with your arm, punch with your entire body. Try again." The girl swung her body in, and punched it again, and this time the dummy lurched back, but rebounded forward, causing Berniss to yelp and duck. "Keep your knees bent, so you're always moving. Crouch slightly, so you can use the muscles in your legs to spring you up for the punch and give you more power. And aim for the nose if you're going punch them. If you can't reach their nose, punch them in the stomach as hard as you can, and then jab their neck. Let's try that." Thea scratched her head. Berniss was a naturally gifted witch, but a warrior, well, she was still in the midst of training. The exact opposite of how she used to be. "And word of advice, even though I'm never one to back away from a fight, if it's obvious you're going to lose, just run. Better your pride broken than your back."
Berniss laughed. "Very true, I don't really want to die yet. Or get myself injured." When she was in first year she had managed to get herself stuck in a wizard's duel with a fifth year, and she had to have Alistair finish the duel for her because she didn't have the knowledge of magic that he did. She punched the dummy in the nose, and it tumbled to the side, before rebounding. Fortunately, Berniss had already sprung away, cheering. "Bullseye! But dang, I could've made that the next Voldy."
Alistair gaped at Thea and Berniss incredulously from across the room. "Thea, are you teaching my sister how to fight?"
"You're too old and stupid to learn anything new!" Thea yelled back, before shifting her body to block Alistair's vision of what they were doing. "Okay, second crash course. Your elbows and your knees are really strong, so if you're ever taken from behind, elbow the person and twist, push the assailant away, and then run. Another way to get out of being kidnapped is if you slump forward and put all your weight on the person so that they have to support you. They'll have to stumble forward to keep you up, and then kick the guy as hard as you can with a back kick. If you're in a fight, if you smash his or her head into your knee, they'll probably get knocked out." Thea rubbed her hands together. "Okay, I'm going to grab you from behind, and you have to try and get out. I won't use my full strength, just the strength of an average adult male. And don't worry about hurting me. I got caught in an explosion thirty stories above the ground and lived to tell the tale. I'll be fine."
