(Okay, sweet fuck I haven't touched this in forever. Hopefully I can finished this one and not publish a half baked piece of trash.)

"Oi Blu! Go man the till, I'll finish cleaning the cages." I wiped my hands off and handed some twins pups to my aunt as we traded places. I lived with my father and his older sister in Gotham City, where they own a small pet store that hope to run myself.

Thankfully we lived outside of the main crime centers across the city, but on occasion the Dark Knight himself speeds past the front in his bat-mobile, chasing some evil villain to lock him or her up. Only to repeat the process a few weeks or months later, really never made a difference in the crime rates of the dark city.

"Afternoon, sir! Looking for something in particular, or just browsing?" I adjusted my glasses to my face as everything came into high definition with my cleaning them. The man was quite handsome by Auntie's standards, but to me, he seemed rather normal. I smile either way, stepping from behind the counter to fix a display a little kid had messed with.

"I'm just browsing right now but maybe you could help me with something. A gift for my annoying younger brother, he's a big animal lover and his cat passed away from old age." I wasn't as knowledgable with cats like my father, but I guided the man to where we kept the cats and kittens. The man introduced himself as Jason, just as I introduced myself.

"We picked up this one from the streets a few weeks ago. He's been updated on all of his shots and has shown to be a former therapy cat." I pointed out a three year old Bengal cat, it's yellow-greens eyes seemingly stared into Jason's blue-greens. I pointed several other cats that not only were good with people, but also were low-maintenance with grooming. When Jason stopped and squatted down to a cage. It was a calico Japanese bobtail with sharp brown eyes, it was also missing one of its hind legs.

"That's Ganbarou, Japanese for 'Good Luck'. I found her after she was hit by a car driven by the Joker, she was very lucky to have survived." Jason tensed slightly at the mention of the clown prince of crime, perhaps something happened to him that the Joker caused? It wasn't my place to ask, but I placed my hand on his shoulder with a kind smile to offer.

"I'll come back with Demo-Damian, see if he likes Ganbarou. Not much of a surprise, but I just want him to perk up a bit." It was a bit of an awkward exchange as he left, but I had a feeling that he was a bit happier than when he came in.

~later that night~

"Blu, go check on the cats, they're meowing up a storm down there." I pulled a heavy sweater and padded my way down to the kennels, still half asleep when I heard glass shattering from the front.

"Is that the best you can do Batsy? Hehe-HAHAHAHA! Im disappointed really!" The Joker cackled from the front entrance of the store, startling the animals a great deal. The dogs all barking furiously while the few birds we had chipped and squaked in their cages, the mad clown seemed to be annoyed with the birds and aimed his gun at them. That where I drew the line, I pulled the hand gun my Aunt kept behind the counter and fired at his legs.

"Get the hell out of my store, Bastard!" I wasn't the best shot, but I managed to graze his legs and hit one of his knees. He spun to shoot at me but Batman pulled him out and away from the store, leaving me to deal with a panicking aunt, father, and store full of animals. I wished I had stayed in bed.

~a few weeks later~

"Hey, I heard that you shot the Joker. The hell was that like?" Jason had tried to rush to the store once the news got out, but was held back by different things he didn't feel like telling me. The windows were fixed and everything was back to its original position, like it never happened... Except the few bullet marks from when I missed. Jason was accompanied by a short, young man who resembled Bruce Wayne to a certain degree, Damian I assumed.

"Why did you bring me here, Todd? You know I don't enjoy going out like this." Damian spoke like a scholar, pulling his sunglasses off when he walked inside. I had Ganbarou out and relaxing in a cat bed on the counter. I pushed my glasses up and gave a small smile at the two.

"I didn't know what I was thinking when I fired. I just didn't want the birds to get hurt, damn bird-hating clown." I muttered the insult under my breath, my father handing me a corgi pup as he passed by, a gentle hello to the boys as he went back. It was a quiet day, so my dad let some on the animals walk around for a bit so they could stretch their legs.

"Well, she seems to like you, Damian. You can take her home, y'know. All the expenses were paid by Jason." The young Wayne seemed shocked that Jason would do such a thing, but picked up the three-legged cat with some restrained glee. Picking out some things to accommodate the pet into the manor, and waiting for Jason outside.

"Uh, I didn't even say I was paying for the cat, Blu. How did you...?" I chuckled, my glasses sliding down and forcing me to push them back up. Superheroes tend to think they're so smart with their civilian aliases.

"We got a small fund from Wayne enterprise, so I connected a few dots. If you or your brothers need someone to stitch them up. My fire-escape is open, and I believe Damian is waiting for you. Don't leave him hanging, Red." I walked to the back, leaving Jason there with a rather humorous face of shock.

(Ending was kinda shit. Song is sad, so prepare yo anus)
