You saw Barry come out from behind the trailer in an all red Lycra outfit and goggles, and you couldn't help laughing.
"At least you'll be moving so fast no one will see it." Cisco joked.
Barry smiled awkwardly before looking over to you.
"So, what do you think about her? Can you help us find out what's happening?"
"I'm sure we can figure something out." Doctor Wells said, appearing out of nowhere.
"Great." You smiled, looking back over at Barry.
"While they run some tests on Barry, if you can come inside with me, I can run some different ones on you."
As he moved towards the building, you looked over at Barry nervously, who smiled at you reassuringly before listening to Caitlin and starting to run.
When you got inside, he hooked you up to some machines and took some blood, then the two of you sat in silence, whilst various things beeped.
"OK, the blood test results have come back, and you definitely have the genetic marker that Barry has, and that we assume all metahumans have. So, whatever's going on with you... It's definitely meta related."
"OK. I'd kind of figured that something weird like that was going on, since Barry was developing powers, and I seemed to be doing something similar."
"OK, well we just need to figure out what kind of powers you have."
"OK... Well, how do I do that?"
"You're just going to have to wait and see what develops."
"But it seems like I'm getting the same powers as Barry, because the first two times the world slowed down for him, it did for me too."
"Then you definitely don't have the same powers as him. He's a speedster, so him running faster wouldn't have any impact on you. And remember, a couple of the times it didn't do anything you at all."
"I don't really understand what this means though. I'm not a speedster, I get that. But there must be some explanation for this. A power somehow linked to his." You sighed, feeling disheartened.
At least Barry knew about his power, and what it was, because it meant he could train himself to use it. You didn't have that luxury.
You left the building without saying goodbye to Barry, figuring that you'd see him sooner or later anyway, and could ask him then how his tests went.
Thinking about the times the world had slowed down for you, you realised that each time you had been really nervous. You weren't sure if that was related, but it was the only thing that seemed to tie the two events together.
Suddenly, you thought back to email that you'd received many months ago. You'd read it so many times back then that you practically knew it off by heart.
You'd completed the first 3 steps within a day, but it had been 6 months, and you still hadn't completed the 4th.
4. Train yourself to use it. Help people who are in danger.
Fortunately, you at least partially knew what it meant now. You had to train yourself to use your power, but first you needed to figure out what the power was.
Barry moved fast, which meant he saw kept seeing things as if they were slowing down around him. You knew that you couldn't move fast, Wells had already established that. So, maybe you actually were slowing things down.
So sorry that I haven't updated this in a month! I've been super busy with getting ready to go to Sixth Form. I'm going to apply to City College next week, so I'm hoping I'll get in and can start in September! I'm super excited about going!
Also, I've applied to a Boots as a Christmas Temp, so if I get it I'll be super busy!
I'm looking forward to finishing this story though.
