When you had left Barry, you started to walk home, and saw some men walk past you. As they spoke, one put his hands on his hips, and his jacket was pushed back slightly, revealing a gun holster.
You gasped as you saw it, and as his jacket shifted back into it's original position, it moved slowly. Too slowly.
You looked around you and saw a bird that was taking off from the roof, and was flying so slowly that it was practically still.
You weren't sure what was happening, and started to panic slightly. However, as you looked back to the two men and saw the gun, not yet covered by the leather jacket, you reached out and pulled it out of the holster, moving it to a nearby bin.
As you tried to calm yourself down (because at least one of your problems had been solved now, you only had to worry about the fact that time appeared to be broken) things returned to normal. The jacket fell, the bird flew, and the people continued walking.
After having stood still in shock for a moment, you whipped out your phone and searched through your contacts until you found the number that Barry had given you. Clicking on it, you nervously moved the phone up to your ear.
"Barry? It happened again." You blurted out as soon as you heard a voice on the other end.
"I know. I saw it too. It seemed like things slowed down for longer this time though."
"Yes, I thought that too. What do we do? We clearly aren't imagining it, it happened to us both but we were apart."
"I'm going to go to my lab and figure some things out, OK? I'll let you know what I find out."
"OK." You responded nervously, unsure. "I'll talk to you later."
Pulling the phone away from your face, you pressed the button to hang up, and sighed, putting it back in your pocket.
Something weird was going on, and you needed to figure out what that was.
*****
You sat nervously on your sofa, biting your nails and scrolling through your phone, waiting for a phone call. It had only been 15 minutes since the last time you had spoken with Barry on the phone when you were in the alleyway, but you wanted answers. He was the only one who understood what you were going through at the moment, because he seemed to be going through it too.
Suddenly, you heard your phone start ringing, making you jump. As fast as you could, you reached out for it, and answered the phone.
"Barry?" You asked, hoping you would be given answers.
"Y/N! I figured something out. I recorded myself moving, and I can see that I'm moving faster than humanly possible. That's why everything seemed to slow down for a little while before! It's very interesting really, when I got hit by the lightening created by the particle accelerator, something must have mutated in my cells, because now I can move at speeds I shouldn't be able to!"
"That's great, Barry. What does that mean for me? You're some kind of 'speedster' now, but I'm different. I wasn't hit by lightening. I was there for the explosion, but I was in a shop. I wasn't in a coma for 6 months. Things turned out a whole lot differently for you than they did for me, so wouldn't be a little weird if we still both had the same result?"
"I don't really know what's going on with you, because I was thinking about that too. So far though, things seem to be moving slowly from both of our perspectives. For me it's because I'm moving fast, but for you, I don't know, maybe something similar. You might be speeding up too; it was just caused in a different way."
"Maybe. I just wish there was some way I could find out. "
"Wait there, I'm going to come over, OK?"
Before you could answer, you heard a knock on your door, and got up to answer it.
"Hi." Barry said.
"That was fast. What, were you downstairs or something?"
"No." He responded, confused. "I just ran here. I went fast, and things appeared to slow down for me, just like they did before." Noticing that you seemed perplexed, he shook his head. "Didn't that happen to you too?"
"Not this time. You just got here fast, nothing slowed down for me."
"Maybe whatever is happening to you is different then. I'm going to STAR Labs now, I thought they might be able to help me, since they're the ones who created the accelerator, and that's what made my cells mutate. Do you want to come?"
"Yeah, please."
"OK, I'll carry you." He said, picking you up and starting to run.
Within seconds, you found yourself at STAR Labs, and Barry stood you upright.
"Wow, you really can run fast."
"Wait, you didn't see it that time either? Every time I do something like that, it appears to me as if I'm running at normal speed, and everything else is slow. Didn't you see that too?"
"No. I saw it in normal time. About 5 seconds ago we were in my apartment, and now, we're here."
"Ok..." He said, furrowing his eyebrows as he tried to figure out what was going on. "Has time every slowed down for you when it hasn't for me?"
"No. It's only happened for me twice, once in the café, and once earlier today, when I called you."
"OK. I think I'm definitely going to need help figuring out what's going on with you." He sighed.
As the two of you approached the building entrance, you gestured for him to enter.
"After you, speedy."
What did you think of that one?
What are you thinking about her powers? She's obviously got something going on there, but what is it? Is she a speedster, or... something else?
