I make it to the hospital in record time, Tom is holding on for dear life as I park in the trauma bay. I see Chris walking out, and I motion him over. He helps me take Tom into a trauma room.

"I'll take care of it Harper." Chris says as he sees me get a pair of latex gloves.

"I did this to him, I need to fix this." I panic as I see Tom start to lose his color.

"How long has he been bleeding?" Chris asks as he takes the towel off of the cut.

"Uh. I don't know. Maybe ten minutes?"

"Am I supposed to be feeling dizzy?" Tom's voice is different.

"No." both Chris and I say in unison.

"I'm so sorry Tom." I apologize again.

"Harper what did you do to him?" Chris asks as he looks into the cut.

"We were boxing, I threw a couple punches.. You know the usual."

"Harper, you literally beat the living hell of me." Tom chuckles.

"Stop laughing!" Chris looks over at me, and shakes his head.

"Step outside." I look at Chris bewildered.

"No. I'm staying." I begin to get gauze and press it down on the cut.

"Doctor Johnson. I said step outside." Chris's voice is more stern, and I immediately get out.

"Tom, I'll be outside. If you need anything." He slowly nods, and I step out.

I lean on the door, and mentally kick myself. I shouldn't have done that. I knew his brow bone was weak. What in the hell was I thinking? Oh wait I wasn't!

"Help! Please Help!" A loud shout comes from the room next to Tom's. Without even thinking, I run towards the room.

"What's wrong?" I try not to panic.

"He won't wake up. He was talking not even five minutes ago." the old woman cries.

"Ok. Let me see." I check for a pulse, but there isn't any. Fuck. He isn't even connected to the monitors! Who did this? I call for a code blue, and two nurses rush in. I get the paddles, and charge them to, two-fifty.

"Clear!" I shout. All hands come off the patient, and I shock him. One of the nurses checks for a pulse, but she shakes her head. I charge to three hundred, and shout clear again.

"I have a pulse!" The other nurse shouts.

"Get him on a monitor now!" I order.

"Yes doctor."

"I need the chart. Who was the doctor in charge?" I ask.

"Doctor Stan."

"Page him now!" the anger that is coursing through me is enough to kill him.

I make sure the patient has a stable heartbeat, and send him to C.T. Chris and Tom are standing outside as I step into the hallway.

"There you are." Tom smiles at me.

"Sorry, medical emergency." I point to the room behind me.

"What happened?" Chris asks.

"Cardiac arrest."

"Is the patient ok?"

"Yes, but Stan didn't do his damn job right. He's the Cardio Chief!" I shout.

"I didn't do what right, intern?" Doctor Stan says from behind me.

"I said, you didn't do your fucking job right. The patient went into cardiac arrest, and died for a good minute! Why wasn't he connected to the monitors?" I turn around and step closer to him.
