I walk down the hallway, and my colleagues who I was interning with look away. The news that I'm the president of the board is spreading like wildfire. Chris talks to me differently. He hasn't flirted with, not that I want him to, but the way he speaks to me all formal makes me uncomfortable.

Even Doctor Stan speaks to me differently. I suspect that he's trying to kiss my ass, because before the news hit the fan he treated me like shit.

I see Tom walking out of the elevator and he smiles in my direction. I smile back, but my view is blocked as Chris stands in front of me.

"Hey Harper. I was wondering if we could go out again." He blushes.

"Uh I can't right now." I say and look past him to see if Tom is near us. "Maybe next week?" I add to soften the blow.

"Yeah that sounds good."

"I'm here." Tom speaks from behind Chris and I snap my head in his direction.

"I should get going. I have surgery in ten minutes." Chris begins to walk away. "Oh and congrats on the presidency Harper." He turns and says.

"Oh. Yeah thank you." I mentally curse at him. After all these months I still haven't told Tom that I own this place, and who I really am.

"On your what?" Tom says before I can say anything.

"It's nothing." I play it off.

"He said presidency Harper. Are you the president of this hospital?" He narrows his eyes at me.

"If I were to say yes, what would your thoughts be?" He tilts his head to the side, and continues to narrow his eyes at me.

"Say something T-"

"Ava!" My head turns to the right and I see him. He's holding a gun, and is aiming at me. I feel all air leave my body. He's here. He's finally found me. How?

"Alexander put the gun down." My voice is much more stronger than I feel.

"My dear dear Ava." He says as he comes down the stairs.

"Who the fuck is Ava?" Tom says looking at me.

"Tom please leave." The desperation in my words is thick.

"Not without you." He grabs my hand.

"Tom. Listen. Leave." I shout, even though he's next to me.

"Step away from her." Alexander's voice is stern.

"Who in the fuck do you think you are to tell me what to do?" Tom steps in front of me, shielding me from Alexander.

"You want to be the tough guy?"  He cocks the gun back, and my only reaction is to push tom to the side and stand in front of the gun. Tom looks at me in shock, I don't even look at him cause if I do, Alexander will do something.

From the corner of my eye I see Tom start to get up, but he doesn't come closer. He actually starts to step back slowly heading for the nurses station. If he presses the right button the cops should show up soon.

"We should get going Ava. There are things we need to discuss." He smirks.

"After you." I point to the elevators on the far left.

"Oh no babe. Think of another way out of this place. You have the money. Or should I say your father does?" He laughs. What was so funny?

"I was thinking we could go to my office then we could take a helicopter to wherever you want to go." I shrug my shoulders, not caring that the gun is still being pointed at my head.
