Slowly I open my eyes as he pulls away, Tom looks at me and smiles. I do the same, and I feel my cheeks go red. His eyes flicker down to my lips again. I bite my lower lip, and he closes his eyes. Is he trying to control himself? Am I working him up?
"I should get going. I'll see you when you have another day off Harper." he says still with his eyes closed. I frown, and quickly get up. Maybe it is a good idea that he gets going. What if something were to happen.
"Ok, I'll give you a ride." I say as I begin to walk back inside the house.
"No, it's ok. Harrison is coming to pick me up."
"Ok." He follows behind me, and closes the door behind him.
"Harper, that kiss. I mean."
"You don't have to say anything about it." I cut him off.
"No that's the thing I do. It was a good kiss." he pauses and runs his fingers through his hair. "I want to get to know you. You seem to be a wonderful girl." redness creeps up in his cheeks.
"Ok, well we can go out again when I have time." I smile at him.
"Ye- Yeah. Just call me." he stammers. His phone goes off, and he frowns. "That's me. Harrison is here. I'll see you again right?" he steps closer to me.
"Yes Tom. You will." I say as he's mere millimeters away from me. He leans down, and cups my face as his lips skim mine.
"Ok." he breathes.

For the past two week I've worked non-stop. All I've done is spend my days in the hospital. I have not seen my bed for more than two hours. Work has gotten harder to deal with, but I wanted to be a surgeon. So I can't complain.
Tom has called, and texted, but sadly I'm unable to answer back. I do feel bad for not getting in touch with him. He must think that I don't want to talk to him. When in reality all I've done is think about him. He's on my mind more than I care to admit, and I want to see him again so badly.
It's as if he knew I was thinking about him, my phone begins to ring.
"Hello?" I quickly answer the call.
"You're alive!" he laughs.
"Ha-ha. I've been working my ass off. So you can say I'm practically dead." I laugh with him.
"I've been waiting so long to hear your voice." his voice is almost a whisper.
"Was it worth it?" I smile as I think of what he can be doing.
"It's like an angel is singing right now."
"Ok. If you say so." I laugh.
"When am I going to see you again?" he questions.
"I don't know. It's hard to say. Work has me busy." I try to hide the sadness in my voice, but fail.
"I should go out there, and we could at least have lunch."
"Highly doubt we'll have more than ten minutes together before I'm pulled away for something." I sigh. Being a surgeon, and trying to have a love life is hard.
"Ten minutes is better than nothing."
"Tom, I want more than ten minutes with you." I smile, and feel a blush creeping up. I see doctor Evans walk by, and he motions me to his side. "I have to go, I'm being called. I'll try and call you after I get out today, ok?" I say and we say our goodbyes.

'Dinner tonight, no excuses.' I read the text twice. He's too cute, but I can't tonight. Instead of texting him back I facetime him. He answers quickly, and I can't get rid of the stupid grin on my face.
"Someone is happy to see me." he smiles.
"More than happy, actually. I missed your face." I blush.
"Me too." he pauses and just stares at me. "So dinner tonight. I'll be at your place at eight." he says.
"I can't do dinner tonight." I frown.
"Why?" He questions.
"I have a ten hour surgery, and it could take longer than that." I say, and take a bite of my chicken salad sandwich.
"Ten fucking hours! What are you going to be doing?" he exclaims.
"We're removing a giant tumor from two babies."
"From two babies? How does that even happen?" he asks.
"Well from what I've read, they're connected by the tumor at the abdomen and chest. So it's going to be hard." I say then take a sip of my juice.
"You're going to be fine babe." he smiles.
"Babe?" I giggle.
"That slipped out. But you're going to crush it!" he smiles even wider.
"Thank you Tom. I'll call you again when I have time." I smile, and wave him goodbye.

For the first time in three weeks, I wake up after ten am. The joy I feel as I wake up late is welcomed. Working non-stop has taken a toll on my body, and mind. But I'm slowly becoming my old self again.
Deciding to go to the gym today, I get up and quickly get ready. I really need to get rid of some stress. I finish packing my gym bag, and head for my car.
When I arrive at the gym, I see a familiar set of brown curls. My eyes quickly dart to him, and I begin to get this weird feeling in my stomach. He looks up at the mirror and our eyes meet. I nod my head in his direction, then head for the locker room.
"Harper?" His voice makes me turn around.
"Yes." I smile as I see him.
"I have something to ask you." he says as he steps inside the locker room.
"What is it?"
"Would you please accompany me to this gala I'm attending tonight?" he smiles, as he rocks back and forth on his feet.
"Tonight?" I ask.
"Don't tell me you have to work tonight." his tone is sad.
"No, I don't." I say then close my locker.
"So will you?" hope laces his voice.
"Do I have to wear a gown?"
"You do, but I can take care of that if you don't have one." he steps closer to me.
"Mm. At what time is it?"
"The carpet is at seven." he so close, that I can feel his warmth radiating off of him.
"Ok." I smile at him, and walk past him to go workout. He calls after me, but I just wave him off as I head out into the gym floor.
