The Bet

How it came to be

After first period me and Cat went to go look for Sam. We found her at the bottom of the stairs on her phone listening to music. Cat went up to her first and said
"Sam come on you know me and Jamie have always been there for you since first grade."

I rush before she could say anything "Even though we are not talking or even looking at each other you know we have a pact."
She looked at me and for a moment it felt like we were still friends before she broke into the school.
Then reality happened " oh really so we are friends and we are gonna walk down that school hallway together happy and skipping?"
I knew this was gonna happen she is to proud, but so am I even though I hate to admit it. I shot back with a " if you wouldn't have lied to all of OUR friends then this would have never happend! Why did you blame it all on me you know what I am blamed for already and you put another stack of hay on the pile! You were one of my best friends! But I did not come here to say all of that I came because I know what it is like to lose a parent or even them both my dad has not said something nice to me since the summer before 9th grade. So me and Cat are here for you." I could not hold back my tears any longer.
"Wow nice speech." She smirked
When I heard that I knew and so did Cat that the Sam we fought for and loved was gone now she was the worst person I knew aside from my father.

Cat and I got up to walk away when this happened " Hey where are you guys going Jamie you made this big speech and now you are gonna give up and walk away."

Cat was pissed off already "Hey listen we came here to comfort you during this time like we do every year but you turned your back on the two people who actually had your back."

"Wow it speaks I thought Jamie was speaking for you?"

Cat was furious she looked Sam up and down and we were about to walk away when he passed. I stopped in my tracks and felt a sudden shudder in my bones a new found love.

Sam took this as an opportunity "You like him don't you. You would not be human if you didn't. That is Nathan. Nate for short."

I started to walk away again when Sam said "let's make a bet" knowing that when I hear the word bet I can't refuse.
I suddenly turned around and said "what is it ?"
"Him"
"Um.. What?"
"He is the BET "
"What do you mean?"
"Ok your apparently in love with Nate already your acting slow. Anyways let's bet that if you get him to take you to prom. I will tell the group I was the one who lied. But if you do not succeed I get to tease you and Cat the rest of the year with no uprisings."

Cat suddenly rushed into the conversation " If you do a bet i am not gonna pay if it comes out your way so leave me out."

I love bets because I never lose so..

"Ok I will do it but leave Cat out of it."I said so seriously.

We shake on it, I had six months to get Nate to fall in love with me enough for him to take me to prom it won't be easy.
