Kara's POV
Did I believe, or could I believe that a truce between these two women would last? As the evening unfolded I got a chance to smooth over Shelby's ruffled feathers. Amy on the other hand was a different kind bird. Although she apologized it was not held in her eyes.
Shelby's half-hearted apology seem to fall on deaf ears. I sensed there was more to what had transpired between them than any of us knew. Xavier sat on the other side of the room watching us all. Kraus stood talking to Maxim, when we heard several cars pulling up. We turned at the sound, waiting until there was a knock at the door. Maxim nodded to Klaus who proceeded to open the door. I turned in time to see 4 new faces. Maxim welcomed the men in. I did not know who they were, but they seemed to know all of us.
The leader of the group was an average height man with silvery gray hair and cold- blue eyes stepped from the group. He looked across the room at Xavier and nodded.
"We finally, get a chance to all meet" his gravelly voice said
"Glad, to see that you accepted maxims invitation Lucas"
Maxim walk over to Lucas and extended his hand.
"gentleman I gathered us here so we can put behind us any hostilities and become one unified Clan."
Both men looked skeptical at first and then nodded. the three other men behind Lucas crossed their arms and stood off to the side. I watched as the men proceeded to position themselves behind Lucas at far end of the room. Lucas three bodyguards stood behind him all wearing black.
Maxim left us three women alone. I did not want to be the buffer between Shelby and Amy but I had no choice.
"Would you care for something to drink?"
Shelby cut her eyes to the side and shook her head no. Amy reached out and elegant hand and waved off the invitation. She sat back crossed her arms and stared at the group of men. Maxim could feel himself getting distracted as the feeling he were getting from Kara seem to be overwhelming her. He knew she was uncomfortable and that she was going to run. He knew he had to Tamper down on his feelings towards Xavier.
Jealousy was an ugly thing. His purpose was to create a truce. He had contacted the men for two reasons. #1 he had heard of an infraction done by one of Lucas's Clan to Xavier niece. The solution being unite the clans, squash the misunderstanding. #2 find Amy a husband. He was sure by the way she was sitting and staring it would appear obvious to the others that she was more than interested in him. It would appear they were having affair.
Turning to the task at hand, Maxim opened the talks.
"I am glad that you are here Lucas. Although we do not know each other personally. We know of each other's clan."
Lucas laughed and nodded "that is true" his gravelly voice stated. "We do know of each other.
As I am sure Xavier has told you."
Maxim did not jump to Lucas's goad.
"As I stated we are aware of each other's clans and we are aware of dealings, and incidents. with I would hope that we could come to a solution that would be beneficial to us all. speak your proposal."
Maxim nodded to Xavier for him to speak.
"I am aware that it was your son that took liberties with my niece. I am also aware that it was a case of mistaken identity. Had I known that my sister had twins and have given one away. I'm pretty sure what transpired between Tori and your son would not have happened."
