"Two weeks?"

I groan and fall back on my bed after hearing exactly how long my mom will be gone to visit her parents.

"It will go by faster than you think." she mutters to me. I'm going to be stuck with my dad for to weeks? How will I survive? I go out to the main barn in hopes to take my mind off of that terrible thought. It's not that I don't like my dad. I love him. He's just very-- Opinionated? While filling up water buckets, I notice Conway eyeing the paddock fence.

"Don't you dare, mister!" I warn. Completely ignoring me, he takes off at a canter and jumps the fence with ease. Even though I've started to take him over jumps in the arena, this is still an issue that I deal with on a daily basis. I go to grab his halter and run after him.

He stops at a patch of grass to grab a quick snack. Luckily, I'm able to catch up to him at this time and slip his halter onto his head. When walking him back to the paddocks I see Greyson in the barn. He's talking to another man, well, yelling at him.

I don't know who the man is, but there is something off about him. The man storms off, leaving Greyson in the barn. I quickly walk to the paddock and turn Conway loose. He gallops to the other end of the paddock to play with his buddy, Mowgli, a bay arabian gelding. I walk back into the barn, finding Greyson sitting on a hay bale, holing his face in his hands.

"Greyson?" I call. He suddenly lifts his head up. It's obvious he's been crying.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"I'm fine." he replies, walking away. Who was that man? Why did he make Greyson so emotional?
