Have you ever had something happen to you, that makes it seem like everything you knew is wrong? Where all you can think about is the "what if's?" Well, that happened to me today.

It's a bright and sunny morning. I hop out of bed to get dressed into my black breeches and a maroon t-shirt. I'm supposed to have a lesson today, on Ace, of course! I've been riding Ace for over five years and I don't know how I could be without him. As I run downstairs, my mom stops me.

"Nora, are you going to have breakfast?" she asks. I smile and shake my head.

"Maybe after my lesson. I want to get an early start." I reply, going out the door. I run over to Aces stall and greet him. He nickers and comes over. After brushing his grey coat and picking his hooves, I tack him up and bring him out to the arena. Two other lesson girls named Ari and Maya are there.

My trainer, Claudia, comes out and sets up five 3'3" jumps. After warming up, we're instructed to go through the course. Maya goes first on her beautiful liver chestnut gelding. Ari goes next on Champ, one of our horses.

They both do well on the course. Now it's my turn. I push Ace into a canter. The first two jumps are smooth and perfect. Next, is an oxer, which Ace dislikes. I give him more of  leg, but it's not enough.

He lets out a big buck, right before refusing the jump. I fall off and try to break my fall with my arm. As it hits the ground, I hear a loud cracking sound then I fall face first into the ground. Claudia comes running over.

I'm in shock and it takes me a while to process what happened. Pain surges through my arm. I cry out in pain. This is not good. Pretty soon, I'm taken to a hospital and have my arm x-rayed. I broke it and I have a concussion. Just my luck.

This is my worst fall ever. I don't think I can get back on a horse. I'm scared of this happening again. What will happen to me?
