Are you tired of the same ol', same ol'?
Are you wishing for a fresh new start?
Those mouthful of meanderings, they weigh so heavy
They are slung over your neck, like ancient art.
Can you throw away that group of thoughts?
Can you clean your abode?
Change the path that you travel
And find a new road?
Divorce yourself from all of the symbols
Purge your memory of "forget me nots"
Lay down your perfection, toss it away
Let your prior life return to the dust
It didn't work.
Farewell to an old and lost friend
God be with ye, I'm on my weekend
Total up the tally of upends
See where that leads
Admit it, those lines you spoke were vile
'Be right with you' or 'in a while'
It's long past due that you needed to turn that dial
And tend to planting a new breed
'Cause it didn't work
It was not good
You tried that routine
That you understood
But now it's a new way
It's a new time
Throw away your umbrella of undulating
Underhanded and old-fashioned brays
That didn't work.
