THERE COMES A LIGHT IN THE DARK

After speaking Angrily John left the school. John was very sad inside the heart because he knows Riya wants to learn. John reached home and was sitting quietly outside.

As Riya reached home after playing, she saw her father sitting very quiet. She called, "Dad what have you have brought for me today?" But her father was so quiet.

She ran and hugged her father and said"I know father you tried your best for me. But I know also that you failed in doing it. It is not your failure but this village's failure where they have no idea of equality. Leave it father, I and you believe in God so let us leave it to him. when God is with us no one can be against us".John tightly hugged Riya and kissed her. He was very happy seeing her daughter being so mature.

Night passed by and the day came.
Cricket Was the most popular game in that country. Nevertheless different was that village. At that time world cricketers were campaigning education awareness by playing games in the village and advertising it. It was India vs Srilanka match that was going to happen in the village. People were very excited and Riya is no less excited like them.

Riya has particular liking and love towards Srilankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara. So she said to her father that she wants to see that match. But village people never allow women to participate in any public events. So Riya was so confused and sad realizing that she will not be allowed to watch that match.

Then Riya thought of disguising as a boy and going to watch the match. She Said this to her and got prepared as she thought. Riya went alone without her father so that no one suspects her.
Match began and was very interesting for a crowd to watch. In the last ball,6 runs were needed to win the match for Srilanka. The batsman on strike was Kumar Sangakkara. Riya's heart began to beat fast and started praying to God. On that moment camera passed by Riya and everyone saw Riya was praying so sincerely for that team. She became the center of attention. Even Sangakkara noticed it and Sangakkara hit six and Lanka won the match. Riya jumped in joy. While jumping her adjustments came out and everyone noticed that it was Riya.

Village people started scolding John and his family. It became serious and Panchayat decided to punish Riya by sending her out of the village. Earlier Riya designed a beautiful card for Sangakkara and kept that in the stadium. Luckily the card was seen by Sangakkara and he decided to meet Riya. He searched Riya everywhere but he couldn't find out. Then he came to know about that Panchayat decision.

Sangakkara went there to the panchayat leader and asked Riya to come forward.

Then Sangakkara said"I am ashamed to see in this developing world that difference between men and women still prevails. According to me that men and women are equal. when I reached here I was happy seeing the beautiful nature and maintenance of this village. Unfortunately, I was wrong I failed to see the ugly side of humans here. Now I take the whole charge of Riya in bringing her up and making her great person before you all".

Then Sangakkara took Riya personally and said"The way you have made a card for me with positive thoughts made me felt that you are bold and optimist. The way you prayed in the stadium made me felt how strong your belief in God is. But why aren't you stronger in believing yourself?"

Riya answered that I believe in myself. Then Sangakkara told" If you have believed in yourself then you would have come to match without disguise as a boy even when there will be a lot to against you. But you didn't. It makes you a weak person. First what you need to understand is no one can help us it is us we should help ourselves.so don't be afraid of anyone. Be yourself. Be a girl, that will make you special. I came to know from your father that you wanted to study. Come with me to Srilanka, I will make proper arrangements for your studies. Don't hesitate. The amount of time you are going to be separated from your family will end once you become a successful person. Riya!you will be a great example for the rest of the girls in your village. You need to sacrifice everything for your village girls and your parents who consider a girl child as special. God helps the people who want to do good to society. It is not that you alone are going to get benefitted but the whole girl society will change looking at you. Come on Riya you can do it. I want you to do this not only for society but also for me. I know you like me very much then now it is your turn to prove how much you like me".Riya smiled and started thinking about it.

Riya's father John thanked Sangakkara and wanted Riya to go with him.
Yes in the darkness of illiterate village, came a Sangakkara for Riya in disguise as a light for her.
