Overcoming The Flaws

Riya woke up the next morning without even Maria waking her up for practice. She thought that she has to overcome her weaknesses before everyone. She thought until she gets an opportunity she should be doing the practice.

Miss Isabelle returned to the school and was on the way where Riya was practicing. She went with excitement to know what happened in the race. Riya explained everything that happened during the race. She promised Miss Isabelle that she will do her best to prove herself. Miss Isabelle wished her all the best and told to do hardwork as much as she can do.

After practicing she went to have breakfast and left for the school. The story of teasing didn't stop, it continued as usual. She felt really bad not for being teased but for betrayal by her own housemates. One of her housemates came to Riya and told her that they didn't want to risk their house points and so they did this to her. Riya was upset realizing that their own housemates were not trusting her. She was just standing silent. But someone tapped her shoulder from back and the whole class stood up suddenly. It was a sweet surprise for Riya as it was none other than her favorite Kumar Sangakkara.

Sangakkara greeted everyone in the class and talked for some time. Then he asked Riya to be ready in the evening as he will be taking her out to his own restaurant Ministry of crabs.

Riya was happy and told Sangakkara that she will be ready in the evening. Class ended and Riya hurried to the hostel to get ready for her outing with Sangakkara. Sangakkara then came and took her out to the restaurant.

She looked at the restaurant and was so excited to be in such a posh place. Sangakkara then handed the menu card to her and asked her to select the food she wanted to eat. She selected the chili crab along with chili garlic bread. Then Sangakkara ordered them to bring those foods for Riya. Later on, Sangakkara asked Riya whether she is fine in Srilanka or finding some difficulties. Riya said that she is fine. But Sangakkara insisted Riya to open up if she has any problems.

Riya then told the whole thing happening to her. Then Sangakkara told that when he started playing cricket he was not knowing wicketkeeping. He was also not getting selected in the playing eleven. As the only place without competition was wicketkeeping, he agreed to do that and later worked hard without letting know other people that he is getting training for it. Later it became the history that Sangakkara was one of the world's best wicketkeeper batsmen. He told this to Riya because he wanted to tell her that nothing comes at one's own comfort zone, one has to go out of his way and learn new things to become great. He told Riya that whenever opportunities strike, she should make use of it. If we are not strong at something and people criticize it, we should work hard for it without anyone knowing about it. Later on, silence them with performance.

Sangakkara told Riya that he will arrange proper training for her sports in his foundation. He told her that she should win medals and prizes like Maria in tennis. Also, he told her winning should not be the option, it should only be the option. So she should work hard and give 100% on the field. Also, Sangakkara told that Maria was the one who informed him that Riya needs someone when she is not around. He told that's why he gave a surprise to her.

Riya thanked Sangakkara and told him that she wants to talk to Maria. Then Sangakkara made a video call to Maria's coach and asked her to pass it on to Maria. Then Maria spoke to Sangakkara and Riya. Riya told Maria everything and thanked her for her care and concern. Maria told that she would always do for her as she thinks Riya as her best friend. Maria told Riya to practice hard and beat those people who bully her every day.

When she was about to handwash, one of the staff approached her and told that this restaurant's one-third revenue goes to the charity foundation called the foundation of goodness in Srilanka. She was happy to hear and asked  Sangakkara about this. He told her that when we get much we should also give some at least. He also asked Riya to become a famous person in the future and do these kinds of things. Riya promised Sangakkara that she would definitely try to do it.

The day went by. From the next day to thirty days, she kept on doing her practice vigorously keeping in mind that she should become the best. That day Miss Isabelle came to class and announced that she will pick one person out of all the athletes for International school level competition. She asked the students to participate if they are willing. As usual, all the athletes started giving their names and Riya too stood up and gave her name. The whole class laughed at her and especially Falina, Farina and Seema. Falina who was the best athlete of the school came to Riya and teased her. But Riya just smiled at her and left the place. She was irritated as Riya just smiled at her without reacting.

This race is so important to Falina as the person who wins this alone will get all the facilities for proper training by the school in international events. The race began and there were six people including Riya. Falina's friends started bullying Riya by calling her grandma. But this time she didn't mind anything. On her mind, she was clear that she has to beat everyone to prove her and become the best. She recalled Miss Isabelle's advice on just focusing on the front and not bothering about the others. She also recalled Sangakkara's advice. People kept on bullying her but as soon as she overtook Falina the voice just went down. Finally, Riya won the race and the whole class was just so silent. Miss Isabelle was so happy to see Riya winning the race. Then Miss Isabelle announced Riya as the winner and congratulated her. She was so happy and wanted to tell her family, Maria, and Sangakkara. Falina's face was so frowned but Riya was just humble at her victory even when she had the chance to tease them back. She just understood that every win of her would be the perfect slap to them.
