"After he slipped between her legs, he had everything he needed to break her in two. As she fell into the comfort of his naked body, buried her face in his neck, she felt safer than ever. She was home - so she thought. She whispered that she loved him, she was in love, whilst he continued to grind his hips, swearing instead of responding. She didn't think anything of it. They were consumed in the moment.

Afterwards, she snuggled into his bare chest whilst he ignored her, busying himself on his phone. He had things to do, that's all. Nothing more. Nothing less. He said he needed space that night, moved over to his side of the bed whilst she lay exposed, on her own. In the morning, he was quiet and rushed home, and that was it. The last time she got to see his beautiful face, his tantalising smile, perfectly carved jawline and mouth. He didn't say goodbye, and it seemed romantic; they'll never say goodbye.

She was wrong. He had other plans; it was time to break her heart in two in front of everyone. When he said it, her whole body went into shock, shaking violently all over. Running to the public toilets, she threw up repeatedly, shaking and sobbing. She felt her heart break into millions of pieces. Her world came crashing down. She could not make a sound; she could hardly breathe. She wished she could stop breathing completely. Locked away from everyone, she felt so alone but so safe. She'd had everything taken away from her by the love of her life. It was time to be alone.

Being alone stops the pain. No, it doesn't. Being alone stops the risk of getting your heart broken, again. The pain does not fade, it does not slowly dissolve as time moves on. If anything, the hole in your chest seems to grow as you realise everything you have lost; you gave yourself to someone, trusted them with your soul, and they destroyed it. It was only ever a game. This creates a problem for humanity. We no longer know what is a game and what is reality; we do not know whether we are paranoid for no reason, or whether there is actually danger approaching and the remainder of our souls are trying to save us before it is too late.

Life does not want to be a smooth sailing ride; it wants to laugh as it watches you fall off the rails and hit the ground. Fall. Shatter. Break. As they say, life's a bitch and then you die."
