Mathews Pov
Thinking, just thinking. That's what I've been doing for the pass two days. I can't bring myself to go and visit Elena and Carter. I don't want to neglect my son and as much time as we lost, I know we can't afford to lose anymore but I'm still hurt.
After six years you'd think a person would have moved on and recovered by now but seeing Tasha there and Carter running into her arms had me furious. How could Elena still be friends with her after all that has happened?
"Mathew?"
I looked up meeting Rosie's blue eyes. She sighed heavily, "you need to go and talk to her. Avoiding her is not going to erase the problem away"
"I know"
She turned around focusing on her painting. We're at the art gallery because she wants to complete her final project before Sunday. I enjoy watching her paint. The ambiance here is so calming what with the smooth jazz music playing in the background.
I watched her sip her wine, she backed away taking a look at the bright red stroke she just made, judging her work.
"Do you still think that we should take a break? We never really finished that conversation"
She turned around to look at me, sitting her brush down she walked over to me bending down to meet my gaze.
"No. I know taking on being an immediate father hasn't been easy for you. I'll try to be as understanding as possible because this obviously hasn't been easy for me either, but I think there's some things that we need to cut back on if we really want this to work."
I nodded encouraging her to continue.
"First, I'm not going to be at your house everyday anymore"
"What why?"
"I feel that you should be able to bring Carter over to your place sometimes. Especially now more than ever since you found out about Tasha. And I know that you're not ready for me to meet Carter yet. That would be the smart thing to do and it'll allow you to have more freedom with Carter"
"Okay, that actually makes a lot of sense. What else?"
"second, you must come to my art show this weekend. No exceptions"
"That's it?"
She nodded smiling happily with her dimples showing.
"I can do that" I gave her a warm smile back and she turned to continue her painting.
I let out a long sigh, once again miss Rosie is right. I can't avoid them forever.
Taking out my phone, I send Elena a quick email telling her that I would like to discuss things tomorrow.
My phone pinged almost immediately.
1pm would be a good time to come over.
I texted her agreeing to it. I don't even know what I'm going to say or how I'm going to approach her.
"Hey. You ready to go? It's getting late"
I nodded getting up and helping her pack up everything. Once everything was packed we headed to the car and drove home.
