Dinner With the Paladins (Keith x Fem!Reader x Lance)

"You with us (Y/N)?"

"Huh?" (Y/N) asked, snapping out of her daze at the sound of Coran's voice, and looked up. She had been absentmindedly pushing her food around her plate with her fork, lost in deep thought. She looked up at the Altean at the end of the table with an inquisitive expression.

"You looked lost there for a tick," he told her, "and you're usually not this quiet." (Y/N) looked around herself, and instead of seeing the regular banter that happened at the castle dinner table, the rest of the paladins looked at her with the same inquisitive expression.

"Oh!" (Y/N) said, a little embarrassed as she looked back down at her plate. "Just... lost in thought I guess."

"What are you thinking about?" Shiro asked politely.

"Um," she tried to say, "nothing really." With a shrug of her shoulders, she looked back down at her plate and tried to focus on her food. An awkward silence drifted across the table.

"You- you all can go back to whatever you were doing," (Y/N) laughed nervously. They all looked at each other as if they were silently communicating. (Y/N) shifted uncomfortably in her seat, trying not to think too hard about what was going on. After a few silent moments, one spoke up.

"(Y/N)," Hunk began, "can I ask you something?"

"Ummm," she said, "sure. What's up?"

"R-recently you've been pretty quiet," he stammered. "Quieter than usual anyhow. Is something up?" (Y/N) cocked her head in confusion.

"Uhhh... no I guess," she said.

"You used to hang out with us in the training room often," Lance explained, "but now every time we go in there as a group you try to get out of it."

"And when we start practicing," Keith continued, "you don't participate as you used to."

"You also don't act the same around all of us the same as well," Hunk said. "You seem almost... distant."

"Unless it's with Allura and Pidge," Keith added. "Then you do just fine with being your normal self. "

"I mean," Hunk continued, "if it's something we can fix, what is it?"

(Y/N) listened to them intently, trying to grasp what they were attempting to explain, but it didn't hit her until she looked into the faces of each of the Paladins. When her eyes fell on Keith and Lance, their expressions struck a realization in her, causing her face to grow red as she stared back down at her plate.

"It's uhh..." she stammered, "nothing. It's nothing." Trying to avoid the topic, she shoved her face with food goo.

"Nothing?" Lance asked in surprise. "It sure doesn't look like nothing to me."

"What's going on?" Keith asked. (Y/N) didn't answer, but continued to shove her face. Pidge, who sat in front of her, watched carefully at (Y/N)'s actions. When she looked up with a nervous expression at her green paladin friend, something struck her. Pidge's eyes grew wide with excitement as her jaw dropped.
