Ruthanna
Chapter fourteen

After Dean did a LOT of explaining and apologizing, we got to planning. Hopefully, it all goes smoothly. And tomorrow, when this major event will be taking place, is Wednesday-Liz's favorite day of the week.
She was furious and butthurt that I skipped lunch to "talk to Mr.Gordon" without even telling her, and pouted about it all day, but oh whale. She'll get over it.

I wave Zoie goodbye as Shawn's blue rental car pulls through the school drive and stops right in front of me.
"Hi, stranger," I say as I hop in and quickly close the door.
"Where are we going?"
He smiles, and taps his left foot which means that he's nervous.
"Well, I was thinking that we could go to our place?"
I shrug.
"Okay, sounds great. You can help me with geometry because Hofs is a hard teacher and I lowkey fell asleep."

He laughs at me, not surprised.
"Okay then."
Before I know it, he pulls up at Walton park. On the far side of the lake, there is a gorgeous tree right above a green bench. The tree reminds me of a weeping willow, which is both of our favorites.
Except for this tree is green and probably the opposite of a weeping willow.
"Okay, Ruth," he says while scratching the back of his neck.
"Um, well." He takes a deep breath.
"I can't get my mouth to say the words that they wanna say to you, so..."

And before I know it, one of his hands is on my waist, the other resting softly on the side of my face.
And then, our lips meet and it's nothing like anything which I've ever experienced.
Lighting flashes and the world must be on fire, but I feel comfortable. Safe. And at the same time, more scared than I have ever been in my whole life. More than petrified, even. I'm so...so...agh. There's not even any words to describe this feeling, just...scared out of my mind.

He releases me and then takes both of my hands in both of his.
"Ruthanna," he says.

"Listen. Ever since the moment I first saw you, my heart beat wildly. You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Your smiles are like sunsets, and your eyes often glitter as if the sun is causing water to sparkle.

You are a wildflower, growing tall and beautiful in a land full of normal flowers.
You have scars, but they make you who you are.
They are beautiful. Your worst moods, your craziest, weirdest...they are all so amazing. Your ups and downs are what I live for."

"And I'm sorry to lay this all on you so quickly, but...I think that I'm in love with you."

Sorry that the past few chapters have been super short!😬
Also, this was super cringey..but also cute, right??
