She, me and her

Chapter 6

Days and months have passed and the end of the year arrived. Exams are done and everybody are awaiting the results. The college is gearing up for farewell of Divya's batch. Divya is feeling bored because everybody are practicing for farewell and they had to sit in class. Divya and Arjun's friendship is increasing day by day and Divya's love for Arjun is also increasing.

One day she decided to propose her love to Arjun. She told the same to Alisha and Alisha said with an encouraging smile "That's good. Take him to a special place and express your feelings."

After college Divya goes to Arjun who is sitting in the staff room. Arjun is working on his system. Seeing Divya he lifts his head. Divya bends towards him and whispers "Meet me in Rock Garden today evening at 6.30 after work. I need to talk to you."

Arjun raises his eyebrows in question and asks "Why?"

Divya smiles and says "Simply."

Divya gets ready to go to Rock Garden. On her way there she even buys a bunch of flowers. She reaches Rock Garden at 6.20. She sits on the bench deciding what to tell and how to start. After sometime she sees Arjun coming on his bike. He sees Divya and waves to her. He comes in and Divya stands up. He asks "What happened, you called me?"

Divya starts stuttering "Hmm... Actually, I...I..."

Arjun says "Relax what happened, why are you stuttering?"

Divya takes a deep breath and says "I never did this before. Actually I love you. I will be with you forever and I promise you that I will never leave you."

Arjun looks at her perplexed. He says calmly "Divya though you never knew how to express love you expressed it beautifully. But I am not ready for this. I don't want another relation because I am just alright now, away from all this and now I don't want to be in love again. I am sorry Divya."

Before Divya could say anything Arjun turns and leaves. Divya stands there staring at his back. She leaves the bunch of flowers on the bench and slowly starts moving towards home, disappointed. She reaches home and changes into her night pants. She sits down before the TV trying to distract herself. 

 After sometime Alisha calls Divya. When Divya picks up the call, Alisha's voice booms out of the phone"What did he say? Did he accept? Are you a couple."

Divya in an irritated tone says "He is not ready for a new relation because he is still attached to that moron who happily married someone else and now maybe even giving birth to babies."

Alisha's voice has dropped when she says "Oh, I am really very sorry about that. Leave him you can find another cool person."

The next two days in the college Arjun is always avoiding Divya to the core. Whenever they come face to face, he goes away from the side not even telling a hello and when she goes to tell him a hi ,he starts talking to others. Divya is angry about this. After college she spots Arjun in the corridor and runs behind him. She comes and stands before him. Arjun stands silently. 

Divya says "Why are you avoiding me after that? OK you don't want to be in a relation, I agree but can't we just continue being friends."

  Arjun looks down. After a minute he says "I...I am feeling nervous. After...you... sorry sorry, After you proposed I am in confusion."

Divya says "Look into my eyes and talk. Why do you fear me? It's OK, relax."

Arjun still looking down nods his head and says "OK."

He leaves leaving Divya. Alisha comes and asks "What were you talking to him?"

Divya says "Nothing. Leave it."

They both leave the college looking at the arrangements happening for the farewell next day.
