"Patch, Patch! Wake up! Its time for school!"
That voice sounds familiar. Zero?
I wake up... I'm home? What? How?What ever, don't question it. I'm just glad to be back. I immediately go get my uniform out of my dresser. And get a towel out of the laundry room. I take a quick shower, rinse. Make breakfast, eat breakfast, grab my books, and run to the bus stop with Zero.
I board the bus and I go sit in an empty seat in about the middle of the bus. I pull my phone out and play a little bit of Dancing Line. A few stops later, a girl sits next to me. I look up at her and smile. I know who that is. Tall,glasses,polish,short black hair. That's my friend Gabi.
"Good Morning Gabi! How was your weekend?" I ask.
"My weekend was great! I found this new anime. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's about a girl who drowns and gets teleported to some mysterious place."
"Is that it?"
"Eh, so far, I mean I've only watched the first episode."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I didn't really have enough time to watch more. I was busy."
"Ah, yes. I know the feeling."
For the rest of the bus ride, it was just small talk.We got to school and went to the old gym, where we wait until it's time to head to first period. My friend Crystal is there.
I wave at her and we run to each other.
"Hey, Patch have you seen Ally anywhere?"
"No, but I'm pretty sure she'll be here soon."
"Oh, okay. You wanna go see what's for breakfast?"
"Oh, sorry, Crystal, I already ate."
"That's fine, but could you at least come with me?"
"Sure! let's go!" We enter the cafeteria, and there are Jay, Lizzy, and Amanda. I go over there and sit with them while Crystal gets in line.
"Hey, Patch!"Lizzy says as I approach.
"Hey, guys! How y'all doing?"I say.
"I'm great!" Jay replies.
"Yeah, me too," says Amanda.
"Oh my god! Jay! Tell her the story!" Lizzy shouts.
"Oh! a story? Tell me! Tell me!" I say like a child in a candy store.
"Okay, okay. So. I was on my Xbox the other day, playing Roblox with my friends, alright. And in the background of MajesticGrant's mic, I heard the stupidest thing ever!" He says.
"Omg! What was it?"I say
Jay giggles a little bit, and says,"'Oh my gosh! I have nipples!' And we all started laughing."
We all laugh! "Oh my god! Who said that?" I ask still laughing my butt off.
Jay laughs more uncontrollably and says," It was his older brother!"
Ha ha! I can just imagine a deep male voice saying "Oh my gosh! I have NIPPLES!" AH! I am laughing so hard it hurts! Oh, it hurts!
We hear a whistle, which means it's time to go to first hour. We grab our things and leave the cafeteria, we head our separate ways. I go to geometry with my friend, Crystal.
Y'know, math is boring, so is English and Civics,so let's go straight to lunch. For lunch, there is pizza. Lizzy, Jay, Amanda, and I meet up at the table.
"Hey, Patch can I show you something?"says Jay.
"Sure, what is it?"I ask.
He takes his earbuds out and he hooks them up to his iPad, he hands a bud to me. He swipes and taps a few times and a tune starts playing. It sounds a little melancholic, but energetic.
"What's it called?"I ask.
He purses his lips for a second. "Padparadscha."he replies. (Pad-puh-rad-shuh)
"Hey, that sounds like a name. How do you spell it?"I ask.
He makes a cringe face, like he was hoping I wouldn't ask that. "P-A-D-P-A-R-A-D-S-C-H-A."
"Is it named after somebody?"
"Yes, actually, it is the name of one of the characters in my book."
"Your book? What's it called?"
"Shhh, that's too much information, you need to wake up."
"That's the name of the book?"
"No, you need to wake up."
"So, that is the title?"
"No, YOU need to wake up."
"No I don't, I'm fully awake!"
"Are you?"
The room gets really dark all of a sudden. I'm starting to panic a little. Oh my god, everybody is staring at me! They all start chanting quietly. "wake up...wake up...wake up..." they get a little louder "Wake up...Wake up...Wake up" they keep going and it gets to an ear splitting volume. "WAKE UP!!!WAKE UP!!!WAKE UP!!!" I'm so overwhelmed that I can't help but to drop on my knees and scream.
"Patch! Patch! Come on, wake up! The house is on fire!"says a familiar voice.
My eyes snap open and my body launches up in panic. The smell of smoke fills the room.
"Patch! Come on! We gotta get out of here!" Dex! That voice is Dex!
"Dex! What's going on?"
"The house is on fire!"He shouts, "Come on! Let's go!"
I get up and rush towards the door, but the ceiling in front of it collapses. Dex looks around quickly. And swiftly, he runs to the pile of ceiling, grabs a burning plank, and then he smashes the window and he grabs me, he throws me out of the window. As I'm falling, my face is towards the shattered window, and I see Dex leap out of the window. When we land, Dex roles, but I land on my back on a little bit of broken glass. My back got cut, but it doesn't hurt. I'm more worried about the house, than a shard lodged in my back. I get up and I cough up a little bit of blood. Dex saw that and he immediately asked me to turn around. I do so, and then he cringes. And grabs the shard.
"Dex! Don't take it out!"I shout.
"What? Why not? It's dangerous to keep it in." He asks.
"It's more dangerous to take It out, because I could bleed out. It would be safer to leave it in until I get access to first-aid. Do you have a first-aid kit?"
"Yeah, but it's gone in the fire."
"Ugh, I guess it's gonna stay there for a while. Um...where we gonna go now?"
"We will go into the woods until we find a place to stay, I guess"
We stare at the house for a minute.
"How long did it take you to build that house?"
"It took three years. All that work went down the drain."
"(Sigh) let's go, Dex."
