The "Best" Friends: Book 1

Chapter 12 -Taxi?

It was early on a Saturday morning. The first day of October to be exact. The moon was still out but the sky was bright blue and the sun was clearly visible. The grass was covered in frost and there was a light, cool breeze.

Gidget sat up in bed and gave a big yawn. Her hair was tied up by a blue ribbon in a messy bun with a few strands hanging in front of her face. She was wearing a light blue nighty and a dark blue dressing gown with folded over sleeves that sat just above her elbows. She stretched her arm out to her night stand and reached for her glasses which she then put on her face. Slowly, she stood up and stepped into her light pink slippers and walked from her bedroom straight into the living room.

After everyone else had woke up, Gidget decided to book a taxi for her and her family. They were going to have a fun journey, traveling around their hometown. Her kids begged her to let their friends go too, so reluctantly, Gidget ended up having to book the biggest taxi possible.

Everyone got dressed and waited outside for their friends. Jimmy and Emilia were the first to arrive (they came together) then TicToc and Tea Party, who were still living in the same house. Everyone but Bob and Gidget were surprised to see Bella arrive at their house.
"Mummy, I didn't know Bella was coming here.." Pearl said.
"Neither did I," continued Carly.
"I know. I invited her," Gidget said, "Since we don't see her much I thought it would be nice to invite her along with us." Everyone nodded and agreed with her.

They were all deep into conversation when they heard a very loud, scraping noise.
"What the flippin was that?!" H yelled.

Gidget turned around to see, not a taxi, but a giant sledge. Not one of those that you'd see being pulled by a group of huskies, no. A sledge that a little kid would use when they went to a park on a snowy day to slide down the grassy slopes.

Emilia just stared at it before saying, "There is no way I'm going in that thing!"
Jimmy just replied with, "Well, we will all fit so it can't be that bad.." he smiled hoping for his best friend to smile back, but instead she just glared at him. He looked down at the ground for in defeat. Emilia then gave him an apologetic look. He smiled again.

Everyone walked over to the weird giant-sledge-taxi-thing and clambered inside. H was the last to get in. He thought it looked so stupid and he didn't want to look like a fool if he joined his friends and family. H was the type of person who did not look back on his life, he just wanted to go forward and become an adult. He didn't even have the slightest urge to act like a kid. Unless he was playing board games with his family.
"Just get in," said Gidget, before dragging her son into the giant-taxi-sledge alongside her.

They travelled for a while before making a stop at the top of a grassy hill. There were trees everywhere and the sun was peeking out from behind the clouds. The hill was very flat and not that high up. It was still morning so there was still dew on the grass.

Pearl stepped off the giant-taxi-sledge and looked around in confusion.
"What are we flippin doing here?" She asked.
"I WANNA SLIDE DOWN THE HILL FIRST!!" Tea Party screeched before sliding down the damp slope. She was smiling the whole time and when she jumped to slide down she closed her eyes as tight as possible.

H just stared at her. She really was and odd child.. TicToc jumped up and down watching her with excitement. Tea Party ran back up the hill, not out of breath at all and TicToc decided to slide down to see why her friend found it so fun. It was at that moment that she discovered something fun to do at a park or a hill or somewhere with a grassy slope. She had never experienced anything fun before, since she had been in jail from the age of four. This was the first time she actually had a good time. Ever.

When she reached the top again, she asked Tea Party to run down with her.
"Hey! What about me?" Pearl cried.
"Oh, yeah, uh, sure. You can come with us too," TicToc replied. Pearl knew she didn't mean it, but it was good enough.

They grabbed each other's hands and ran down as fast as possible. TicToc was stuck between her two best friends. Tea Party was to her right while Pearl was to her left. Tea Party closed her eyes and screamed at the top of her very high pitched voice while smiling. TicToc just shouted 'Woooo!' She was supposed to be doing the same thing as Tea Party, except with her eyes open, but since she had quite a deep voice for a girl, it sounded completely different. Pearl screamed. Well, it sounded more like she just said 'Aaaaaaaaahhh!!' She wasn't very good at screaming either, since her voice was almost monotone.

As the three girls reached the bottom, they all fell to the group, TicToc and Tea Party were laughing for ages, while Pearl grasped the grass as tight as possible and panted with wide eyes. After a while, her friends just stared at her. She was still panting.

A few hours later, they all climbed back onto the giant-taxi-sledge and the driver took them home. It was the strangest thing they'd ever experienced because every time they stopped, Jimmy fell out of the giant-taxi-sledge. The first time it happened, Carly fell out too. Emilia smiled because her best friend got to be with his crush (even if the two of them were in pain). H just burst out laughing. The second time, almost everyone fell out of the giant-taxi-sledge apart from Bob, who just sat their giggling while holding Kidney. Then the last time, it was just Jimmy and H.

As they reached the family's house, everyone got out of the giant-taxi-sledge. Jimmy, Emilia, Carly and Pearl ran inside, away from the maniac driver. H just walked in casually. Gidget walked in quickly, with Bob skipping slowly behind her. Bella tried to catch up with her sister, but failed. TicToc and Tea Party ran in together, worried that the driver was following them, but also they were having fun because they were having a race. As usual.

Once everyone was inside, Gidget said, "We're never doing that again.." Everyone agreed.

Hi guys! Second last chapter complete. One to go. This one was way more descriptive than usual because I thought that my writing was getting boring.

The next chapter is a very special day for a certain character. One of my favourites actually because I can relate so much!
