But I did not need you
Nor did I want you
But you put this idea in my head
That I was nothing without you
You were my oxygen
And I couldn't breathe
I needed you.
But I didn't
You said I couldn't walk alone
But I held on to the railing and marched on my own
You said I couldn't speak for myself
But my words flowed out of my mouth more fluently than yours ever did
You said I wasn't strong enough said I needed someone to protect me
But as your friends called me names
You hid in your little cocoon
And protected your ego
Not me
It was never about me
It's was you
You needed someone to boost your confidence
To help you build up that masculine identity you've created for yourself
I was just a key ingredient in your life
And the side effects scared you
Because I slowly began to realize that nothing was real
I was stronger than you thought
Smarter than you ought to think I am
Happier than you'll ever be
Because You needed me .
