John - Hey Lexi.
Alex - H-how are you here?! I thought you died!!
John - I tried! I was going to jump off the bridge, then I saw good ol Jason Dean. Bitch had a gun in his hand, so I knew he was up to no good. When I tried to go up to him, I got a bullet in the stomach, and well, in summary.
Alex - JD? That's who's been doing all of this?
John - Doing what?
Theodosia - There was a school shooter. He shot me, Lafayette, and Eliza.
John - Are they okay?! Where are they?! Ow!

John tried to get out of his hospital bed, but it only caused him more and more pain. He screamed in pain and I quickly rushed my hand to his shoulder, pushing down and making sure that he didn't cause any more harm to himself. It was obvious that he was being sincere, it wasn't normal to have fear like that in your eyes. I was sure that he was a little bit more concerned about Lafayette than Eliza.

Alex - Sit your ass back down. I have no idea if they're okay.
John - They have to be! They have to be!
Hercules - Alexa- oh my god John!!
John - Hercules! You don't know how happy I am to see you!
Hercules - Me to! I've been so scared, I thought you committed suicide!
John - Well, I tried. I ended up getting shot instead.
Hercules - What?! How?!
John - I'll explain later. How's Lafayette?
Lafayette - I'm french and I'm in a wheel chair.

Lafayette was rolled into the room by Peggy. As soon as the two came through the door, they immediately spotted a breathing John, unlike me. Lafayette rolled himself over to the side of Johns bed and wrapped his arms around his best friend. They didn't need any words in that moment, just each other's presence was enough. Aaron walked over to the three boys and placed a hand on Hercules shoulder, who had his arms crossed. They were all happy, they were all together. It was like nothing had ever changed.

Peggy stood starstruck in the doorway. She seemed sweaty and her eyes were a light shade of red. I assumed she had been crying, over the tragedy that had struck her sister. For a second, all of her sadness almost seemed to disappear as she caught a sight of John and I. She smiled and ran back into the waiting room, leaving almost as soon as she had appeared.

Peggy returned about a few minutes later with Johns plush dog in her hand. Had she been keeping it with her this whole time? Peggy rushed over to Johns side and placed the dog next to him. John sent Peggy a wide and genuine smile and embraced the little dog in a hug. It seemed as though the dog was constantly being owned by someone new, but in the end, he would always belong to John.

John - Alexander? I- Can we start over?
Alex - Hm?
John - I've done so much shit in my life. I've done so much shit to myself, other people, and you. You can just ignore that you made me see colors. I just want to be your friend.
Alex - No.
John - What?
Alex - I don't want to start over.
John - Oh, I understand.
Alex - You didn't let me finish. I don't want to start over, but I want to forgive you.
John - R-really?
Alex - Yep.

John opened his arms out to me, obviously wishing for a hug. I gladly accepted and leaned down to wrap my arms around him. I thought back to the first time John and I had hugged, we've come a long way, haven't we? I felt warm in his arms, almost like I could just stay there for forever. Our hug quickly turned into a group hug by Peggy, Hercules, Lafayette, and Aaron. Theodosia smiled at the six of us, knowing that she wasn't exactly able to stand up.

And in that moment, it felt like everything was going to be okay.
