Thirteen Years Later
Delphine's POV
"All I'm saying is that you need to raise your grades" Sam repeated for perhaps the fourteenth time today. I roll my eyes and sigh which just gets him more annoyed. "And all I was saying was that I'm allowed to drive legally now" I countered as I stared out of the window of my brother's 1967 Chevy Impala. I heard Sam and Dean argue as I smiled, thinking about what I would do this week on my own. I was going to be on my own for a whole week, starting today. "Are you even listening to me?" Sam turned around and looked at me, not in a terribly mean way but in just a way to make me try to understand. "Yeah, I'll try," I said, half-heartedly. I had bigger things to worry about. Not prom, homework, tests or anything. More like today was the day when my imaginary friend met me 13 years ago and I wanted to investigate. Turning away from the window and realizing Sam was still talking I asked Dean to ask Sam to stop, "Can you tell him to cool it? I just got a few points off, god." Dean laughs as Sam gave him a look. "That what you call a C? No colleges are going to take you if that's in your GPA" He said as he almost laughs at my joke. I turn back to look at him. "Language Arts has nothing to do with Astrology and Physics." I correct him smugly. "Plus, Dean wouldn't ever let me go to college, he needs someone to side with him in arguments," I said as Dean laughed. "She's right. Cool it, Sam, she's not going anywhere." Dean said as we turned the corner and got to the high school. Quickly getting out, I turn when I heard Dean's voice. "We can't embarrass her anymore!" He smiled as I laughed and got out. "Remember, no driving, shopping, drinking, partying or anything that I wouldn't do," Sam said as Dean mocked him. "Ok, okay! God! Alright, I'm going to be late!" I said as Sam continued talking. Sighing, Dean started driving, cutting Sam off mid-sentence.
Walking into the school, I go to my locker and try to avoid the popular girls. I try to go around them but my bright red hair really did stand out. "Anastasia!" I turned around, planting a fake smile on my face as I turned around to face Lilibeth. "Lilibeth..." I said as I trailed off. "So, we're having a party at Elodie's house tonight," She said as she gestured to the blonde girl. "I'm cordially inviting you and your boyfriend to arrive there, 9 sharp!" I frowned, quickly understanding who she meant by 'boyfriend'. "I can't... I'm rehearsing lines for the play... with Rhydian" I said as Lilibeth's smile disappeared. "Oh, I'm sorry," She said, breaking out her practiced sympathetic smile. "Next time, yeah?" She asked as I nodded and walked away. Spotting Rhydian outside my first class, I decided to wait with him. "Bothering you?" He asked as I shook my head, leaning on the wall next to him. "Party. I covered for you though" I said as he smiled. "Always can rely on you," He said as I nodded and put my head on his shoulder. Just then the bell rang. "Here goes," I murmured as I clutched my Astronomy books to my chest and walked into the classroom, following Rhydian. I shivered as my curly red hair fell loose all the way down my back, swinging as I walked into the classroom. Avoiding contact with everyone, I followed Rhydian and sat down at the desk with him at the back of the room. "Right then class!" a recognizable voice announced as walked over the desk at the front of the room. "Today we are doing Black Holes!" I look up at the teacher and hold back an excited squeal as I see his face. It was the Doctor, 13 years late, but still him.
"You should be quite good at this, Miss Winchester!" he finished, giving me the biggest smile I'd ever seen, one filled wth happiness and excitement. I smiled back, silently having a seizure due to excitement and amazement. At this Rhydian looked at me, not like I was crazy, rather like he wanted to know what was up. Knowing he'd understand I wrote the words 'imaginary friend' and 'Doctor' in my notebook as he looked at me, shocked. I sat through class marveling at his explanations and descriptions. The most amazing part was that he'd probably seen one and whatever information he was going was probably true, from what he'd experienced first-hand. Soon, much to my dismay, the bell rang and everyone crowded out of the room. It was an enlightening class, really. I asked Rhydian to go on without me as I stayed behind, wanting to talk to The Doctor. Once everyone was out of the room, I decided it was safe. Taking him completely by surprise, I rose up out of my chair and grabbed him in a hug. "What year do you call this, Doctor?" I asked, stepping back to watch his expression. He opened his mouth to speak but I cut him off. "Thirteen years off?" I continued, crossing my arms. He tried to reply but didn't come up with much. "Well, you know how it is...time traveling and all, saving the world...you know..." he trailed off uselessly. Sighing, I hugged the two-thousand-year-old-time traveler again, not knowing what else to do. After a second, he hugged me back. "I've missed you, Delphine Winchester," he said. "I may be thirteen years late, but you're still the same to me" I pulled away and looked at him, his hair still floppy and clothing sense still off. "I've missed you too, Doctor," I replied as he smiled, taking my response as a sign of forgiveness.
