~Chapter One~ ~The Prophecy~

"Goodnight mom!" mewed Snowkit, Birchkit, and Oakkit together. "Goodnight my little angels" Yellowfur, Snowkit's, Birchkit's, and Oakkit's mother replied. The three kits lied down in the nursery next to their mom and went to sleep. It took Snowkit and Birchkit a little while to fall asleep because they were excited about their apprentice ceremony in the next two days. They stayed up, but after a little while they woke up Oakkit and he yelled at them saying, "Don't you guys ever get tired or sleep? You talk way more then you do anything else!" After Oakkit's insult the two went to sleep and drifted off into dream land.

It was leafbare when Snowkit walked out of the nursery. The clearing was empty. I must've slept for a really long time if it's already leafbare. She thought. There was someone calling her name, telling her to go across the lake. "But that's Waterclan territory!" Snowkit squealed. The cat sounded as if she took no notice of what she had just said. "Where are you???" Snowkit yelled. "Across the lake" the cat replied. "Then how come i can hear you if you are so far away?" The cat continued to tell her to go across the lake and Snowkit replied, "Fine" then padded out of the clearing. She walked to the lake and stared at the water. But i dont know how to swim. She thought. "What's wrong?" The cat asked. "Your new clan must've tought you to swim" Snowkit looked up. She looked across the lake. "Mom!" She yowled when she saw her mother across the lake. Snowkit's mother smiled then mewed, "Five cats, Frozen Storm, Birch Oaks, and Blowing feathers, chosen by Starclan must save the Forest, the Night, the Water, and the Sun from the destruction of Black Ashes and Golden wings". Snowkit looked at her mother confused. Snowkit's mother looked behind Snowkit then disappeared. Snowkit looked behind her and there was a gigantic forest fire. Snowkit looked around. She was surrounded by fire. She looked up. Snowkit saw something golden flying with their golden wings. But there was nothing she could do. She didn't want to die like this, but the fire was getting closer. Within seconds she was inside the burning fire. She started sweating from the heat. The fire was burning her tail. Soon she would just be ashes like her older brother and father. Suddenly she heard a voice and saw Birchkit and Oakkit standing next to her inside the fire. "Wake up!" Birchkit yelled.

Then Snowkit woke up. It was just a dream. There was no fire surrounding her by the lake and it wasn't leafbare. Her birth mother wasn't there only her adoptive mother and her litter mates. "You've been screaming in your sleep" Yellowfur meowed. "Did you have a nightmare?" "N-no" Snowkit replied. "Well if you did have a nightmare it was just a dream. It won't happen" Yellowfur smiled and licked Snowkit's ear. Oakkit and Birchkit did the same. It was just a dream. Snowkit thought to herself.

"So what do you wanna do on our last day of being kits?" Birchkit asked "Wanna play Hunter and the Hunted?" Oakkit asked. Hunter and the Hunted was a game Snowkit and her brother made up before they came to the clan. In the game someone was a twoleg with a gun, a dog to hunt with the twoleg, and any type of prey. There can be multiple dogs or prey but there can only be one twoleg. The hunted get 2 minutes to hide while the hunters get ready ot play. Once that 2 minutes are up the hunted can be hunted by the hunters. "Sure" Snowkit and Birchkit mewed together. "I call being the hunted!" Snowkit yelled. "Ill be the dog!" Oakkit yowled. "Ill be twoleg!" Birchkit squeled. "You have two minutes!" Birchkit yelled.

Birchkit and Oakkit ran into the nursery. Snowkit ran behind the medicine cat den. Snowkit sat there for two minutes waiting...then when the two minutes were up Birchkit yelled, "I'm coming to get you Snowpaw!" "WOOF!" Oakkit yowled. Snowkit stood where she was. Anxious to win this time. That would be hard though. The only way the hunted could win is if the twoleg gave up.

"You check behind the apprentices den, I'll check Leafstar's den" Snowkit heard Birchkit meow. Oakkit ran over to the apprentices den while Birchkit walked to the leaders den. Oakkit looked behind the den when one of the apprentices walked out. It was Windpaw. She just became an apprentice a moon ago with her brother, Stormpaw. Birchkit, Oakkit, and Snowkit were friend with Windpaw and Stormpaw before they became apprentices but then the two were too busy with their training to play.

"Hi Oakkit" Windpaw mewed.

"Hi Windpaw" Oakkit replied.

"What game are you playing?"

"Hunter and the hunted"

"Can I play?"

"Sure. You wanna be dog or prey?"

"Prey" Windpaw mewed then smiled.

"You have 2 minutes" Oakkit mewed then ran to find Birchpaw. Windpaw ran to the entrance of the clearing. She hid behind a bush there. No one will find me here. Windpaw thought. Birchkit found Oakkit in the center of the clearing then mewed, "I don't see her anywhere"

"Me ether. And Windpaw is playing now so it's even harder" Oakkit meowed.

"Ughhhh this is gonna take foreverrrrr"

Oakkit sighed. "Yup" The two kits searched for Snowkit and Windpaw for almost the whole day when Birchkit decided to finally give up. "We give up!" she yelled from the center of the clearing. Windpaw and Snowkit both walked out of their places and to the center of the clearing. "Where were you two?" Oakkit asked. "Behind the medicine cats den" Snowkit replied. "In the bush" Windpaw mewed and flicked her tail in the direction of the bush. "Oh" Birchkit meowed. "Well I guess you two win" Oakkit meowed in defeat. Snowkit and Windpaw smiled at each other then at Birchkit and Oakkit.

Silverwing walked over to the group. "Windpaw we're going hunting" she mewed. Windpaw nodded then said, "Bye guys!" and walked away with Silverwing. "What now?" Snowpaw asked. "I'm hungry" Birchpaw replied. The three walked over to the fresh kill pile. They each took a piece of fresh kill and ate it. Birchkit yawned. "Wanna go take a nap?" She asked. "Sure" Snowpaw replied. Oakkit just nodded. The three walked into the nursery and settled down for a nap.
