Wispkit woke up in the comfort of his mother's warm fur. He snuggled closer, craving the warmth. He let out a sigh. His eyelids flickered open. His eyes seeing only black fur.
"Mama?"
"Yes sweetie?"
"Is it cold out?"
"No love. It's very warm, as it always is. You can go out if you like. Snowkit and Ravenkit are already out." He turned to look at his mother. Her light yellow eyes shone with warmth. Her black fur sleek and well groomed, yet warm and comforting.
"Will you come out with me?" She nodded.
"Of course."
"Thanks mama!" He smiled at her. His yellow eyes glowing with joy. They walked out of the sphere like shape of the nursery. It lay high above the forest floor, woven into the branches of the trees. A semi flat surface of twigs, branches, and leaves makes a kits play area. The older cats cling to large branches. A woven basket holds the fish and birds. Several other sphere shapes hung near by. A black kit, a white kit, a tortoiseshell tabby kit, and a brown tabby kit play on the semi flat area.
"Go play with them," his mother told him as she nudged him forward. He stumbled on the fake ground.
"Hi Wispkit!" His sister, Ravenkit, called. His other sister, Snowkit, waved her tail in hello. Tigerkit and Otterkit nodded their heads in greetings. Wispkit shyly nodded to them. He could feel his ear tips getting warm.
"Hi Sootsplash!" Otterkit meowed. Wispkit's mother flicked her tail in greeting. She pushed him with her paw. Wispkit stumbled, regained his balance, and waddled forward. His kit legs short and stubby.
"We're playing Clans. Wanna play?" Tigerkit asked. Her sweet blue eyes shining.
"I'm Ravenstar! They are Ottersplash, Tigerflower, and Snowfrost! You can be Wispfeather! If you want," Ravenkit meowed.
"Sure, but how do you play Clans?" He asked quietly. Otterkit smiled.
"Clans is where one cat is leader, one deputy, and the rest warriors. You pretend to be a clan, and face different dangers," Otterkit said.
"Alright. Who is deputy?" Wispkit meowed.
"I am!" His sister, Snowkit, yowled happily.
"So what do I do?" He asked.
"You and Ottersplash will go patrolling. It's just walking around flat area," Snowkit meows, whispering the last part to me. Wispkit nod, and turns to fallow Otterkit.
"Look! A jaguar! Attack!" Otterkit meows with fake growl. They race towards a stray stick. Otterkit swats its 'face' while Wispkit jumps on the sticks small back. The other kits soon come to help the two toms. They tackle and play. Soon chasing each other. They occasionally stop for milk, but then race back to play. The suns last rays shine through the leaves.
"Time to go to sleep. We don't want to attract a jaguar or monkey," Sootsplash meowed quite seriously. The kits follow her to their den, still wanting to play. They soon crash. Their little heads resting on mossy beds. Only when the sun appears, do they wake.
