Wispkit woke up. He felt ready and confident. He didn't need his mother anymore. He padded out of the nursery. The early morning light weakly shone through the branches. He breathed in the warm air. Its large amount of moister smoothing his ruffled pelt. He didn't hear Tigerkit walk behind him.
"Hey, Splashkit," she murmured. He was surprised. Was his name Splashkit? He thought it was Wispkit. He pushed the thought away. He liked Splashkit more.
"Hello beautiful," he purred, admiring her lightly striped tortoiseshell coat. Her brilliant baby blue eyes shone. She looked embarrassed. Tigerkit turned her head away bashfully.
"Why should a such sweet flower be embarrassed?" He asked with a purr. She looked at him.
"Because no one has called her beautiful before," she answered. Their eyes locked. Her gentle blue eyes gazed into his light yellow eyes.
"That must be tough, not having your beauty acknowledged," he meowed sympathetically. In truth, he really didn't care. All he wanted is the gorgeous cat to be his mate. He didn't mind they were kits. They would become apprentices in a while, and then she would already be his. No other could steal her from him.
"I guess," she meowed. He was around a moon older than her. She was three moons, he was four. Yet he had never been here. Where he was called Splashkit. Where he felt powerful. Where his small frame didn't bothered him. Never. He liked this place. He wanted to stay here, but as he and Tigerkit made their promise to each other, as they curled up together behind the nursery in a tiny kit sized den they made, as they fell asleep curled around each other, he new he couldn't. He would wake up as Wispkit.
