Tigerflower felt a wave of pain roll over her. She bit back the yowl that threatened to come out. She didn't want to wake the clan, but didn't want to go get Pebblefrost for fear her kits might fall into the water below. She was forced to stay put. Her body rippled. She felt a small, wet bundle slide into the moss next to her. Through another convulsion, she reached down, and bit the sack of skin around.
Tigerflower forced herself to hold onto the kit while a ripple spread through her small body, and even though she wanted to let go and scream. She licked the fur around its mouth, eyes, nose, and ears. She gritted her teeth when another convulsion came. Another kit slipped into the world. Tigerflower bit the sack around it, and licked its face clean of slime.
She flinched as the first kit began to suckle. The second kit joined in. Tigerflower shrunk as another ripple passed through her. Several passed, but the kit didn't come out. She knew it was stuck. She reached over to pull it out, but flopped down into her nest as another convulsion shook her body.
Tigerflower felt herself tire. StarClan help me! She prayed. After a few agonizing moments, the kit was still in her. It would die if she didn't get it out. She rose, gentle pushing her kits aside. They'd be fine for a few moments. She stumbled out of the nursery. Tigerflower managed to climb up to Pebblefrost's den. She collapsed in the woven floor.
"Get this thing out of me," she managed to rasp before falling unconscious.

When she awoke, Mudsplotch and Pebblefrost were by her side, so were two kits.
"I need to get to the other kits!" She meowed suddenly.
"Relax, they're fine. I had Mudsplotch check on them. Why didn't you call for help?" Pebblefrost asked gently.
"I didn't want to cause a commotion, and wake the clan," Tigerflower admitted. Mudsplotch rapped himself around her.
"They wouldn't mind. You could have died! Please don't scare me like that again. When I heard you kitted, I was so worried. Pebblefrost told me half of you was here, and the other half was there. It worried me so much our kits were alone. I'm so glad they are all ok, and you too!" Mudsplotch meowed. He pressed his nose into his mate's fur.
"Can I see the others?" Tigerflower asked. Pebblefrost nodded.
"I'll carry the kits if you help her down. She's still a little weak," the medicine cat meowed. Mudsplotch helped his mate down to their other two kits. There was a black kit and a brown kit waiting for them, mewling for milk. Tigerflower curled around her kits, and Pebblefrost brought the other two, a tortoiseshell and a black and brown tabby, and laid them down by her stomach. Pebblefrost ran back to get some herbs.
"What should we name them?" Mudsplotch asked, curling around his mate.
"How about the names we discussed? Shadowkit for the black tom, Riverkit for the brown tom, Flowerkit for the brown and black tabby, and Dapplekit for the tortoiseshell," she purred.
"Perfect!" He purred. They looked at their kits for the majority of the day, whispering and talking to each other as well. Some cats came in to congratulate the happy couple. Mudsplotch decided to spend the night with his family. He wanted to be as close as possible.
