Wispkit woke with a start. Is my name Splashkit or Wispkit? Was that a dream? It seemed to real to be one. Where's Tigerkit? He thought, looking at the sleeping queens and kits. Tigerkit wasn't there. He jumped out of the nursery. Tigerkit was watching birds flying through the early morning sun rays. He padded up to her. He wanted to test to see if it was a dream or not.
"Has some one ever called you beautiful before?" He meowed. His face grew warm, and he licked he brown splotch on his chest in embarrassment as Tigerkit jumped in the air.
"Don't scare me like that!" She yelped, gazing angrily at Wispkit. Her gaze softened as she looked at his frightened yellow eyes. "No, I don't believe so. Why do you ask?" Wispkit turned his head. He felt like fire ants were hitting him all over.
"Cause I think you are," he murmured. He could sense her surprise. She immediately grew all warm. She turned her head the other way. She was just about to look at Wispkit, Wispkit about to do the same, when Otterkit pranced out of the nursery.
"You two are up early! Want to play catch the monkeys?" He asked enthusiastically, not even aware of the tension between the two. Tigerkit and Wispkit both nodded. "You two are the monkeys! I'll give you ten heartbeats!" Otterkit yowled. The two kits ran to the other side of the kit space. Otterkit turned around and ran at them as soon as the got there. The 'monkeys' ran away from Otterkit. Otterkit always trying to get one. Once in a while one was tackled, then they would become the chaser. Soon all five kits were playing, and as the day before, playing till they crashed. Only stopping for food. Wispkit was the last to fall asleep, worrying about his 'dream'.
