Sorry I didn't update yesterday, we spent most of the day in the car and we got back to the hotel late.
Ok . . .
YELLOWSTONE IS AWESOME!! We saw loads of geysers and pools and mudpits. I, being the nerd I am, talked anyone who'd listen's ears off about the science of how they worked and the bacteria that survived in the hot temperatures. We saw a huge herd of bison and I used my binoculars to look at them up close. We also saw a moose and an elk on the side of the road (not dead) and there were so many ravens. We stopped to eat at a restaurant near Old Faithful (we got there two minutes after an eruption :/ ) and a person was throwing food to them and they were leaping to catch the food in there beaks. My mom was unconvinced that they were ravens because she thought that ravens didn't live in Berth America, so I had to explain the differences on beak shape and size and threaten to look it up on my dad's phone before she'd believe me. But the ravens were really cool. The visitors center at Old Faithful was full of science!!! I spent at least twenty minutes reading about all the different geysers and related things. I also read about the volcano under Yellowstone. I already knew all the science in that room, but a lot of it was touch screen, light up, and it made noise so I went through it anyways. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing. They had a touch screen where you could read about certain geysers, pools and pits and watch a video of them bubbling or erupting. One of them was called Dragon something (I don't remember exactly what it was called). My stupid brother ran off and we missed the next eruption of Old Faithful, so we walked around looking at more geysers and cool bacterial matts. Once again I talked non stop about Archaebacteria. We finally saw Old Faithful erupt, and it was so cool!!! It went really high! We stopped at another really cool geyser place on the way back to the hotel, and the steam was so thick that we couldn't even see. We got really wet because of it. The pools there were full of bacteria that made it look rainbow.
We didn't go to Yellowstone today though.
Today we went to a place called Bear World, and it was so cool. We drove around inside a habit filled with black bears. Some came up right next to the car!! A few were climbing the trees. I spouted a bunch of random black bear facts. There were also deer, elk and bison and we even saw some moose! I had to stop myself from shouting, "Sam!" XD There was also a place where you could pet some of the animals, and the elk and deer were really soft! The bear cubs were really cute. They also had this mini theme park, and it had a mini roller coaster (it was kind of like a smaller version of Spider at Lagoon because the cars rotated while you went along the track) and they also had a ride where you went inside this bear shaped capsule, and it rotated around with a few more capsules and you could spin your own bear with a wheel. I almost threw up we were spinning it so fast. It was a lot of fun.
I have been in science heaven the past two days.
I didn't post yesterday's prompt, sword, so here it is.
