I sat perched on a wooden beam high in the churches ceiling, my eyes trained onto the pulpit. I only had moments before the preacher would be here, undoubtedly with his newest victim, and my eyes kept making their way back to the center.
I wasn't religious, in my line of work you really couldn't be. I was the basic term of an hired Assassin, someone that killed for money. My money came from a organization called The Academy, an organization that did good for the world and rid the evil from it. I was a part that not everyone knew of, in fact, only a select few did.
The Academy rescued me from my family when I was ten, and put me with those that rescued me to train me until I surpassed even them. The Academy took out the evil that was my family, my stepmother that abused me till an inch of my life, and my father that laundered money and helped fund a sex ring. To say I had any good memories would be an utter lie.
The doors opened loudly, my eyes snapping to a preacher dressed in white and a wide eyed little boy, his eyes focusing on the way the light glint off of the golden dishes. I grit my teeth and let a snarl lift a corner of my mouth up as he led him up the aisle, standing straight before dropping silently onto the carpeted floor. I rolled as I hit the ground, crouching in the center aisle as I watched him talk to the boy.
The preacher left the child at a seat for a moment, taking the steps to receive the drugged wine he was going to give to him. I wrapped an arm around the boys mouth, pinning his arms as I lifted him silently and brought him out of the room. I handed him over to Lily, smiling as her and one of her husbands took the boy silently.
I watched his tear stained cheeks for only seconds before turning back and returning to the room, the preacher still talking as he poured the wine with his back to me. I moved and sat where the boy once did, my fist clenching at my sides while I watched him move.
"Did you like Sunday School today?" His frail voice asked, my fingers silently slipping my dagger from my boot.
"No, I'm afraid not." He whirled around, dropping the glass full of wine onto the carpet with wide eyes.
"Who, who are you?" His voice shook as he spoke, his eyes darting around.
The corner of my lip curled even more as I watched him shake, my fingers pulling the knife up even higher so it stood visible. "Their savior."
It flung out of my fingers and straight into the center of his throat, his hands moving up to it as the blood slowly bubbles up and dripped from it. His body dropped as I stood, my long blonde hair pulled into a braid behind me. I closed he distance between us and leaned over him, my eyes watching as the last of the light left his, before my hand shot out and ripped the knife from his throat haphazardly.
"Disgusting." I muttered, wiping it off on his white robes before turning around and stepping out of the church.

I smiled to Philip as I walked into his office inside the hospital, handing him the file with a report of my last mission. He flipped it open before glancing inside, nodding and giving me another smile as I sat down. Phil became like an uncle to me once I was rescued, and was the one I received my missions from.
The candy he gave me was just a plus.
"So it went well then?" I nodded as I popped one of the strawberry candies in my mouth, smiling as it's flavor hit me.
"Yeah, set it up so it looked like a random break in." He nodded to me as he set the file in the desk before taking out a new one and setting it on the wooden desk in front of me.
I flipped it open where the words ASHLEY WATERS stood out bold, along with the team that was currently assigned to it underneath.
Blackbourne team.
