Dean ran up onto the roof to attack. "Gordon! You do that to my brother, I'll kill you!"
There was a huge scuffle on the roof above me. I heard the butt of a rifle slam into someone's skull twice and the flop of an unconscious body. The shadow of the guy who was obviously happy with himself towered over in front of me. I looked up to see brown eyes staring back at me. I inhaled and exhaled a shaky breath.
I tried to run but Gordon grabbed me from behind, around my neck.
-------------------
Gordon tapped my head a couple times to wake me up from my seemingly dead state. "Hey, wake up. Your brother's calling. 5637 Monroe Street. Think you can handle that?"
I looked up and nodded, "yeah."
Gordon placed my phone against my ear, my wrists and ankles were tied to the arms and legs of the wooden chair.
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Emerson!" Sam's voice yelled back.
"You broke your promise, Sammy."
"I know and I'm sorry. I'm in Lafayette, Indiana."
"We know."
He swore under his breath. Maybe he's found Dean up on the roof. "I can tell."
"We talked to Ellen. Just got here ourselves. It's a real funky town, I can tell you that much." I glanced up at Gordon.
"Where are you?"
"5637 Monroe Street. Why don't you meet us here?"
"Yeah," Sam answered. "Sure."
Gordon pulled the phone away, hanging up. "Now, was that so hard?"
I groaned, "bite me."
-------------------
Ava helped Sam carry Dean across the roof to the ladder. "I thought you had a sister."
Sam let out a strained breath, "yeah. I do. She's in trouble. Someone has a gun on her."
She whimpered, "is she gonna be okay?"
"I don't know. Come on."
-------------------
Gordon pulled out weapons from a canvas duffel bag, I tapped my nails on the arm of the chair I was restricted to. "So, Gordy," I began making conversation. "I know my brothers and I ain't exactly your favorite people and we never will be, but don't you think that this is a little extreme?"
Gordon looked towards me, "what? You think this is revenge?"
"Well, we did leave you tied up in your own mess for three days," I laughed, "which was awesome. Sorry, I shouldn't laugh."
He scowled when he pulled out his knife. "I was definitely planning on whuppin' Dean's ass for that. But that's not what this is. This isn't personal. I'm not a killer, Emerson. I'm a hunter and your brother, Sam? He's fair game."
An uneasy feeling settled in my stomach. He didn't find the odd one out of the pattern. He didn't find me, he just assumed that Sam was the one that was also in the pattern. I can't let Gordon know that, he'll kill me no questions asked.
"I was doing an exorcism in Louisiana. Teenage girl, your age, seemed routine, low-level demon. But between all the jabbering and head-spinning, the thing muttered something about a coming war. And I don't think it meant to, it just sort of... slipped out. But it was too late. Piqued my interested. If you got the right tools, you can really make the thing talk."
